The Cooper Test or the Bleep test?

    Hello everyone,
Thought I'd better introduce myself as I've been checking out the FFL forum for quite some time now and have found it very informative and an excellent place to hear from like minded individuals!

I'm 25 and from South West England. I've been interested in the Military most of my life and after specialising in my chosen career path quite early on at school, I have now finally realised where my future lies and that is most definately as a career soldier.
I have read nearly all the books, ie The Naked Soldier, Legionairre and Life in the Foreign Legion and have been torn between joining the Royal Marines and the Legion for some time.
But, after much consideration I am applying to join the Royal Marines and if for any reason that it doesn't work out I'll head to Aubagne. I would be stupid not to try for a career within my own country's forces considering the amount of action they have all seen in recent years.
On the flip side, I've been very indecisive because they is still something very appealing about just dropping everything and leaving the UK and all my troubles for a new life!!

Well thanks for reading and I wish the very best of luck to any of you on your way to La France and the "pearly" gates of Aubagne etc!!

Lastly I have a quick question. After watching many FFL docs on the recruitment process I am confused as to whether it's the bleep test that is taken as part of the Luc Leger or the Cooper test? The website only shows the bleep test. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks to everyone

    What the BLEEP???!!!

It is the "Beep" test otherwise known as the Luc Leger in selection I think you still get tested on the Cooper in Castel during Basic training.

Welcome to the forum. Good choice to go with the Bootnecks first.

The Cooper and Luc-Leger are two different tests and as part of the recruiting process the Luc-Leger ( Shuttle Run Test ) is used in the Legion. Come to that I think is pretty used with the Bootnecks too....

I think...that if you run at cooper 3000 m or 3200 m in 12 min..beep test should be no problem.

Re: The Cooper Test or the Bleep test?

    Thanks.
This confirms what I thought. The Bleep test is now being used for selection as shown on the official website.

Yes, your quite right, the Bleep test is used for RM selection and you must achieve a level 10 or 11 depending on your Psychometric test scores.

    Cheers

Welcome to the site, if you really feel just like dropping everything and leaving the UK "then do it" hey but after a couple of years when you start to think you are missing out on life back home, dont worry as the neighbours will still have the same curtains after 5 years
