This cassette, and another by Tina Turner, defined “ownership” of the Landcruiser thatmy oppo and I insisted on “keeping” as 2ic MovCon Group’s office during our UNTAC days … there were other Landcruisers, and other cassettes by other artists, but none as attractive!D624BBFF-16C1-4B72-A4F4-2954551C31F1.jpeg

I woke this a.m and decided to listen to a few tracks from John Edmond, starting with "gunship calypso". Fellow Rhodie in diaspora in South Africa. Still at it and making tunes. He's a bush war legend in our part of the globe. You can find him on YT these days where he has a channel.

Gents, i was listening to this performence with pleasure when all of a sudden i heard the tune at 4.11 - 5.10 and was quite shocked, because it was played in my national army on celebrations and I know it to be a Soviet march about defeating the nazis.
Can anyone tell me the French name of the chant, if there is one. I know that the Legion is liberal at using the military heritage of other armies and even heard a detachment singing Katyusha, but still it is a bit too much for me...

And a song by Sabaton, dedicated to the Legion
