In regard to the Navy contract stating that you can become a Seal. The contract is called the Seal Challenge Contract. You can only Sign this contract if you meet all of the requirements on the ASVAB for a seal source rating. What this contract states is that during basic you get three chances to pass the strigent physical requirements to make it in to BUDS Training. Without the contract all you get is one shot and thats it. Sorry for off topic post I have just seen a few posts with mention to this and people that were writing about it seemed misinformed.... Please in the future research what you post to keep it honest. Thank you

Bonjour F.O.,

What should also be mentioned is that there are additional "conditions" or requirements. A security clearance must be obtained.

Usually not related too much for entry level, but at some point an additional requirement can be filing a financial disclosure statement.

I'll join you in recommending potential entrants get professional-level military advice from various disinterested organizations, eg Fleet Reserve Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, etc.

Saluations,

fwiw, enlisted get three shots, officers only get one ;)
This is true but not really...i'll explain. First off prior to completing your second year you have had enough fitness training to achieve any positive test results. If you have signed a contract your first year (not mandatory, but incouraged for finance reasons) then you will be asked your goals. If you reply SEAL a nice program will be set up for you to allow you to succeed. Second if you wait till your third year to sign a contract then between your third and fourth year you can (although very difficult and not offered at all NROTC) and should attend the pre-BUD/S training. If you do not other schools or options are available. By the time you graduate and are commisionned you will be ready (fitness, that is ). If you ask any SEAL (old school shooter kind) the test is not the fitness but rather the Mental, and to be honest most don't have the mental. Oh yeah, the Officers who test for BUD/S shortly after ROTC complete the course, something like 80%, but ill re-verify that (as it is a little out dated-see my best friend in the entire world is a SEAL, a guy ive known since birth and almost married his sister kinda best friend. - in Hawaii right now doing something cool). but anyways,do what everyone said of course...get the info from the source..your NROTC cadre, but remember unless its a SEAL it aint real.--The info that is.
