But does anybody else want me back, eh? And if so, why? And if not, why not? Just out of curiosity, not being agressive, or anything.
You got my vote, for what it's worth to you. The more Anciens on here, the better. It's also better, I think, for any organization of veterans to have a mix of members from different eras; older guys for the wisdom, younger ones to ensure that the hard-earned wisdom gets remembered and passed down.
Our own VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) stateside has ran into some issues post 'Nam. There was a bit of mutual resentment between the WWII/Korea and Vietnam vets, which led to the VN guys forming their own organizations. Post 9/11, the VFW became a weird mix of Iraq/Afghanistan guys and the few remaining from the "Greatest Generation". We loved the WW2/Korea guys; I think we generally rubbed them wrong for various reasons I'll not get into unless pressed. Today, that lot is rapidly dying off, the VN guys are largely still keeping to themselves, and my generation generally isn't as involved in veteran orgs as they might be. Which is worrisome as regards the future of the organization.
So in light of all that: in words of one syllable, we don't just want auld salts like you, Papillon and Volt; we need you.
