Hi, I would like to join the Legion somewhere in March and I have a brand new laptop that I brought a year ago. It's a gaming laptop-Lenovo Legion Y720 the question is if I would be able to keep it somewhere? Until I get to my regiment, somewhere safe. Would I get the chance to use it in the Legion at deployments and such just for gaming not for the Internet?
I was in the army three years in the paratroops and there were no laptops and no USB components approved to enter the base. My target is to get to the 2e REP and if there is someone here that has been there or know any useful information regarding this please help me.

There's a saying that goes around, when you join the Legion forget about Mama, Papa, Playstation. Clearly you are highly attached to your Laptop which makes me wonder if you can last the 4 months of basics with no tech. However when you arrive at a recruiting centre those belongings will be taken away and stored and given back to you after your 4 months basic.

My 5 cents, why don't you sell it and pay for your plane ticket. When you've finished basics you'll have €6000 saved up from your salary. Just buy yourself a new one then in France.

Also maybe an intro telling us a bit about yourself would be a good start?

I can go through a lot with just basics. It's just a shame because I study much more French from this computer and the first 4 months are crucial for that. As for the games, it's just a good way of passing the time in long deployment besides training and guarding respectively.

How heavy are your books ?
All you are expected to do is obey orders
New #8
I still don't have them but if I sell my laptop I would have to buy books for Franch studying in order to keep up and practice.
I want to be efficient and useful.

I got four months maybe five until I get to the gate and I practice every day twice a day 2 to 4 hours even at work I listen to French conversation with my headphones. so I hope I get good progress but it's just studying no real speaking with somebody so it's gonna be different

New recruits do not speak, hardly. ..they listen and look
They listen to try and understand but usually not much
So they look, in a dumb kind of way, what the francophone s do. ...
Belive me, it's all part of the thrill

You do your best, capito?
Learning french is part of the trade
You already have an advantage = you understand some (isnt the case for most)
By showing your knowledge for french, will get you noticed and will give you an advantage over the others who can't
Up to you to put your skills to good use
Post Shitum
Can you do 7 pull ups?

Yeah, was thinking the same
Less time on your lap top and reading books , might help
Use the time left before attempting to join, by doing the void . ..previous social life and habits, etc
Work on your stamina and true grit
Don't tell your inner circles about your intentions = they will only pump négative stuff
It's up to you
