Death of a French soldier in Mali

Joseph Cosgrove

Yesterday's news has announced the death of a French caporal-chef in Mali. Cch Julien Barbé, of the 6e Régiment de génie based at Angers, deployed as part of “Opération Barkhaneâ€￾, was killed in an ambush, after a vehicle hit a mine. Aged 28, he was married with 2 children.

RIP Frère d'armes.

Don't forget our boys are due to go out there, 666 and the others, it's no pick nick.
I saw the post yesterday from Armée de Terre official facebook page about this brave soldier's death. It seems that he died on April 5, during Operation PANGA, while his group was deployed for a non-pollution check, caporal-chef Julien Barbé was fatally hit by direct enemy fire.

The explosion injured another two soldiers who were immediately rescued by the force's medical teams and evacuated by helicopter to the Gao desert operational platform. Their state of health does not inspire concern.
