I'll go for the bottle of wine, as for the quality... I'm more a Kro, or Chang person, so I'll take a cheap vino callapso or a chateau clappers :ROFLMAO: ;)

A few photos from Calvi. The legion's cemetery on the hill. Water tower at the entrance to the camp. Also one for Mark and Joe Cos from the wake at the C/Chef's popote...

Actually the A/C is drinking from a helmet. It is a kind of thing that people do. The helmet in question was/is reserved for that. It is one of those things, such as anyone who is not a corporal chef cannot buy a drink. And anyone who puts their beret on the bar has to buy a round of drinks. I hesitate to use the word tradition as I'm working on part 3 of my video.
Did you know that there is only one Voie Sacrée in the legion, that of Aubagne ? and where the name comes from ?

what happens to a leggionare if he dies in combat or just die (whatever the place)? Is he burried inside the legion, or in France's cemetery?

There are a few cases where legionnaire's have insisted on being buried inside the legion:
Prince Aage died of pleurisy in Taza, Morocco, in 1940, and was buried at the French Foreign Legion's headquarters at Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria.

Before the Foreign Legion left Algeria in 1962, it was decided that the remains of three selected soldiers should be buried near the new headquarters of the Foreign Legion at Aubagne in southern France. The remains of Prince Aage were selected as the representation of the foreign officers in the Foreign Legion. His remains now lie next to those of Général Paul-Frédéric Rollet (known as the Father of the Legion) and Légionnaire Zimmermann in the town of Puyloubier, France.

Plus, another which comes to mind is William Moll, an American who insisted that his ashes stay with the legion. They are in the wall at the entrance to the crypt (museum).
Otherwise the legion has it's own cemetery or a plot in the local town's cemetery. Calvi has both. The photos that Pink Floyd sent are those of the carré which is behind fort Maillebois. The cemetery itself is in front.

That is basically if the legionnaire has no family, otherwise the remains are shipped to his home. There is always a delegation which accompanies the coffin and the amicale of his country will send some anciens. Either way, he is buried with full honors
