Why would he buy boots to go and join the Légion ?
They will be issued to him if Paradise makes him rouge..and then off to Castelnaudary for basic
Marching / walking, is natural to the human.
best sport we, the humans, created in my esteem ! (Walking)...one foot in front of the other !
Tootsies, ( toes) with blisters, wear a pair of under socks and tape your feet
Make fkn do with the matos*
you are given
* Matos = matériel or equipment...and it's free

Well said. If a the government of a country spend millions of pound /euros on developing a piece of kit which is part of a uniform why would anyone without any military experience think they can procure better kit. it is called a uniform for a reason. even the girl guides have a uniform. get some years in then with experience comes knowledge. As LPC quite rightly says walking one foot in front of another hardens the sole and toughens the soul...

some things did however require a little refinement. Not designed for stealth or sneaky tactical work and if you are not used to them you can end up on your ar5e when drilling enthusiastically. have seen a couple of warrant officers come to a halt too sharply and their feet disappear skywards. Oh how we would chuckle.
