    Invictus

This film came out at the end of 2009, and in my opinion was a very inspiring true story.

Set in South Africa, the film starts as Nelson Mandela takes office as the President of South Africa in 1994, just after the fall of Apartheid. His ambition as the newly elected President is to unite the entire country, black and white, and move on from the racial segregation that plagued South Africa for many years before.

As the film gets going, Mandela attends a Rugby Union match between South Africa (nicknamed the Springboks) and England. As the game is played, many white folk are still flying the old South African flag(somewhat symbolising the Apartheid era) while black people cheer when England are beating the Springboks. Mandela, seeing the racial divide, plans on using the sport to unite the country.

The film depicts the run up and including the World Cup, including how Mandela and the South African Rugby team work together to unite the country, including an epic final between South Africa and New Zealand.

A truely inspiring film, I would highly recommend it to anybody with an interest in politics and rugby. And at two hours long, it isn't too short or too long.

I hope you enjoy the film as much as I did.
