How foreign will the Legion be in 10, 15...

..., 20 years? Are there any plans to restrict the amount of foreigners who can apply? A lot of the figures I'm reading say that 30%+ of recruits are French and that up to 40% are eastern Europeans. It's no secret that they let Frenchmen in and let them have their identities back, if this is the case then why recruit foreigners?
    Thoughts.

    cheers

What makes you think this? 30%+ of the candidates have always been French so there is nothing new here. Don’t worry the Legion have existed for a while and there is no whatsoever reason to change this.

Guess it wouldn't be the French Foreign Legion if they didn't recruit foreigners not in the true sense of the word. Even with an overall majority of Frenchmen with "noms de guerre". Besides the consistency depends on many things like world circumstance, individual country's economic situation and such.
For instance after WW2 there was a great influx of German volunteers. An example of world circumstance. As for the great number of Eastern Europeans joining, an example of a poor economic situation.

    After WWI, plenty of Germans.

    Late thirties, plenty of Spanish.

    After WWII, plenty of Germans.

    After 1974, plenty of Portuguese.

After 1982 plus Thatcher, plenty of British.

After 1989, plenty of East Europeans.

This is how the Legion works, end of story.

I can't remember writing this in the plural tense.

As I doubt the BBS was supplied with automatic French language correction software, has somebody changed this?........or are my daily 30min learning sessions paying off and I'm actually better than I thought I was?

Just I haven't got to changing words from singular to plural yet.
