I heard the same also, but tried to research in the Légion d'Honneur official website. I couldn't fine Simon Murray's name among those recently promoted. So, I start wondering is this was not an hoax...

My friend, although very well designed by Denny, the site you mention is not an official one...
I repeat : I couldn't find so far any unquestionable proof of Simon Murray's nomination in the order of the Légion d'Honneur.
You know how the internet works, no ? Someone posts a wrong information, and after a certain number of copy/paste, everybody believes it's true... It's a kind of magic.
Not saying this is the case here, but let's be prudent...

    Hi,
The information is from my son who participated in the ceremony in Paris in the Jardin du Luxembourg. The reception was at the Senate afterwards.
    Regards,
    Denny

Ok Denny, so "first hand" information. I couldn't find however anything on the official web site of the Legion d'Honneur order. I knew for example one of my brothers had been promoted from Chevalier to Officier and found this on their web site, but nothing about Simon Murray. May be I didn't look in the right place. I must add to be perfectly honest that their site is not very well designed and a bit difficult to search into. I'll try to have a deepest look into it, whenever I've got a chance.

    Hi Patrick,
I also could not find any info on the Internet about Simon Murray being awarded - the media did not pay attention - but the official web should list all their awards. I wonder if there are other persons listed awarded at the same date? Looks like I'll be googling tonight...
    Thanks for your reply,
    Denny

    There's a Medaille en Chocolat.
But getting back to Mr Murrey, I just wonder how many blokes read his book and thought **** it, lets go over and have a look
From the recruitment figures that's the least France could do for the bloke. Half the peeps who get the Legion D'honneur in France are ******* film stars and all kinds of weird bastards you wouldn't even want to have at your party even in yer wildest dreams.
Good on ya Mr Murrey, you deserve it!

I agree I read Simon Murray's book and I knew then and there, that I HAD to be a Legionnaire in this life.

Good for him, seems to be one hell of a chap.

One of the main reasons I went along with other issues.

One of the best books I've read concerning life in the FFL. An oldie but a goodie. Nice to hear he has been or maybe shortly decorated for his achievements.

I say one of the best books coz Mr Lochrie wrote the other one.
Remember to empty the Littertray coz 1 day I might just use it!

Re: Simon Murray Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur?

I found a picture from the ceremony - Simon Murray receiving the Legion d'Honneur - from his former chef de corps...
I wonder why he is not listed on the official web site ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]), or I could not find his name?
