    I never met Tom but my good friend Tex spoke highly of him. Sadly I never got a chance to meet up with him, may he rest in peace, Dave McCoy

    Re: RIP TomG

    For Tom,

    Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
    The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
    When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
    Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

    Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
    Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
    Change and decay in all around I see;
    O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

    Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word;
    But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord,
    Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
    Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

    Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
    But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
    Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea—
    Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.

    Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
    And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
    Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee,
    On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.

    I need Thy presence every passing hour.
    What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
    Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
    Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

    I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
    Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
    Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
    I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

    Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
    Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
    Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
    In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

    Re: RIP TomG

    Just stumbled upon this thread that I haven't seen before. Like most other members, I'm in a shock to learn of Tom's death. He never gave any public information or hint about his illness and behave till the end as a true gentleman, caring about his friend and not about himself.
    I could not imagine the forum "Memorial" that he requested the creation of would be used for him so quickly...

    Camarade, toi mon pays,
    Je vous quitte sans regret,
    Volontaire, j’ai bien servi,
    Avec Honneur et Fidélité.

    Flashes post says it all, what a sad loss of a good and honourable man.

    My heartfelt sympathy to all he has left behind for the time being. Having the privelage of the aquaintance of men like Tom is one of those things which makes life greater than the sum of its days.

    Rest In Peace Ancien.

    Re: RIP TomG

    Mama take this badge off of me
    I just can't use it any more
    It's getting dark too dark to see
    Feels like I'm knocking on Heaven's door

    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Just like so many times before.........

    Mama wipe the blood out of my face
    I just cant see through it anymore
    I got a long black feeling and its hard to trace
    And I feel like I'm knocking on Heaven's door

    Mama lay my guns into the ground
    I just can't fire them any more
    That long black cloud is coming down
    And I feels like I'm knocking on Heaven's door

    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Knock knock knocking on Heaven's door
    Just like so many times before.........

    Every time I hear this song I will think of Tom....you should too.
