    2 months until applying

    Hello,
    I am a 33 year old American who has decided to give the Legion a go...will be flying out on August 25...which will put me in Lyons on Tuesday moring....i will most likely take the train all the way to Aubagne. Anyway,...I've found this forum to be a unlimited source of info,..and appreciate all the replies from you guys......I will apply to the Legion with no prior military experience...but,..have a good level of overall fitness and skills which i hope the Legion can appreciate (marine outboard/inboard gas and diesel mech.)..as well as plenty of commercial diesel experience...a.s.e cert. here in the US.
    I'm very committed to this, and am giving it all i have. I've simulated the ''beep test'' here, and had no problem passing level 7, I am also listening to ''French lessons'' everyday....what I'm getting at, is that i have a realistic view on what to expect, and if I don't make selection, it will not be from a lack of trying or preparation. Thanks.

    Good Luck....
    Keep up with your French Lessons, plus long runs and sprints, plus maybe a weekly ruck hike, pushups, situps and pullups...

    Do what thy manhood bids thee do, from none but self expect applause;
    He noblest lives and noblest dies who makes and keeps his self-made laws.

    Good luck, I have barely even started with the language, I've been 100% focused on the physical so far. I'll be getting into Paris August 10th, hopefully I'll still be there when you arrive.

    Good fortune to you, man. I'm happy to see another person in their 30's going for it. Hopefully, your very practical skills will give you the edge over the other candidates.

    I won't be applying for a long while, but it would be profoundly inspiring to me if you get in and excel in training.

    May the gods of physical training and the saints of corvee smile on you.

    Minimize the physical and concentrate on the linguistics, be in "good shape" thats all, spend your time learning the language.....I had a very hard time with French and paid for it (but was in better physical condition than most of the cadre).....they will get you "in shape" know the language will be be better for it
