General Court-Martial Conviction????

Hi all, I searched the FAQ's and didn't really find anything comparable to my question so here goes:

I was in the USMC and got convicted at a general court-martial of attempted espionage and other national security violations. I was sentenced to 15 years confinement, reduction to pay grade E-1, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and a dishonorable discharge. I served my time in Leavenworth, eventually making parole and have since completed my parole and am totally free now.

My question: What do you think? Would the Legion even consider me? I realize there is no way to know anything for sure without actually going to France but for those of you who have served in the Legion, I respect your opinion. Thanks for your time.

I was a radioman. I got myself in that shit storm by making some really stupid decisions but the fact is that it was nothing like the bastards made it out to be. It doesn't matter though cuz I did the time and it's behind me now.

I'm interested in the Legion for an opportunity to start over and for the passport. I was interested in joing before this happened and had written the Legion in Aubagne about enlistment requirements. They sent me a letter thanking me for my interest and basically told me I would have to come to France. At my court-martial, that letter that I had received from the Legion was actually used against me as "proof" of "my willingness to serve foreign powers".

I tried once but was turned down for back child support I owed. I've since caught up on the support though and should be eligible. Do you think they might not give me a passport because of my conviction?

Im not gonna cast a shadow on your dreams, but with the charge of espionage, it may be a major factor, that you may have to explain, but , was you case airtight? did you admit guilt if not try to get a civvie lawyer to review your case and have the espionage erased , I know its hard in the US with a DD but with espionage attached its damn impossible, however, I do wish you luck with your dreams.

i think in the present security climate of the world espionage etc would be looked at very seriously....i cant see it happening for you mate...
