unlike other armies, like say the Crowns Forces or the American Army, you have to try out before you are allowed to go to basic training in the LE. This "try out" is *very* selective, with *very* few making the cut. The last phase of the try out process before you are allowed to become a part of the LE and go to bct is a title called "rouge", so named because you get a red patch on your track suit.

As mentioned above, candidates, during the selection process, are sorted out in different groups. Those in the 'rouge' (red) group are those who are accepted and sent to basic instruction at Castelnaudary.

Sometime in the last week you will form up as usual outside the block, you will know when its time because the previous day you had your longest Gestapo interview yet (in general 4-8hrs). They will start calling names and they will split the group. They will not tell you which group is accepted and which not, no tricks here, the smallest group made it. The smaller group will be led off to the uniform store and will not see the members of the larger group again.

My group was over 120. Those who made "rouge" were 35. Do the maths yourself. Once who have your uniform the bullshit starts, off you go to Puyloubier and Malmousque you have a few days admin, haircuts, injections and some blah blah blah. Then one day you are put on a train with escorts from the training staff at Castel, these will be the first legionnaires you meet who treat you like total shit, do not fluck with 'em, they will be you platoon staff.

Making "rouge" is not the end. It's the beginning.

    Beau,
What happens to your book ? I was offline for sometimes due to a death in the family... Can't find those posts you said you wanted to post?
