    Which martial arts?

I'm wondering which martial arts I should take up? I'm thinking tae twon do but I'd really like to do ju jitsu but I can't find anywhere that does it. I know judo is supposed to be very good. I'm after finding this place that teaches bits from kick boxing, judo, ju jitsu and a couple of others and it teaches weapons training and moulds them into one technique. Any advice would be much appreciated.

i did judo since i was 7 and taught it in the Legion. It will do you no good in basic you don't use the same muscles. running and abs will get you there then take up what ever sport you want to. a good right hook will do if you feel the need to hit some one

Karate is good for your your balance and you become "light" and fast. Kickboxing is when more aggressive and i love it! RIght now im in something that is kalled Shintai. Its a mix of most things, and i tell you, there is nothing that beats the feeling of kicking someone between the eyes.

I studied Issenryu, okinawan Kenpo,Jujitsu,Escrima Kali and USMC Linefighting.
I really wouldnt recommend Tae kwon do, to much emphasis on the legs. Most demonstrate little use with/against hands. I would recommend Happkido, But most definatley Krav Maga. If you take a stand up style complete the circle witha good groundfighting style also. Just my two cents

A good martial artist must have an excellent background in both stand-up and ground skills. Brazillian jiu-jitsu incorporates most of these tactics.
The Ifugao Rice Terraces- unlike the pyramids, great wall and other gigantic edifices- were made not by slaves and tyrants but are living marks of love for the land and life itself.

I utterly agree, although I think that in order to fully appreciate Brazilian jiu jitsu one must have some experience with an art that require less contact, like muay thai or Lerdrit (the military version of thai Muay Thai).
Since the most realistic and effective form of martial arts in close combat must involve forward pressure, kicks, and knees, and these techniques are normally mastered only by experienced jiu jitsu students, unless of course, you are talking about the Gracie-style, which is down right amazing and easily mastered by anyone.

But, regarding the question, I think you should go to the nearest video store and rent some UFC or PRIDE championship tapes, then you can choose whatever art you find interesting…I don’t wanna spoil anything, but just be aware that Brazilian fighters always win these championships, sorry…we are too good.
