    Medical examination

Exactly what kind of medical examination you undergo in the recruting centre before you being send to Aubagne? Is there any difference between cities?

If I remember well a post from Legionet, since the new recruiting process has been put in place (where among others, they decided to replace Cooper test with Luc-Léger), a 'first pass' medical examination originally performed only at Aubagne is now done also in the other recruiting centers. This is a way of limiting the number of volunteers to be 'shipped' to Aubagne for further examination. Those who still join directly at Aubagne undergo this summary examination there, as before.

What is Luc-Léger? I put it into freetranslation.com and it came up with light luc. Why no more Cooper's Test? I was going to run 3500m.

You could search for it on the forum then you would know. But here you go.

7- Luc-Léger “navette” test is quite ease to complete. It’s a shuttle run. The distance is 25 meters and you have to run it again and again and after 1 minute you have to slightly accelerate your speed. Just listen the instructions of legionnaires and you will be ok. You start at very low speed of maybe 8 km/h. The limit is 7 and more levels. If you can run 9 or 10 levels than you are ok, but everything above 7 is fine. For the training just keep running your 12 min Cooper test and if you make over 3,000 m, then you will be ok even during Luc-Léger “navette” test.

Here is the basic run down, this has been posted before but I am waiting for some friends to go out to eat and drink ourselves into a coma so I have free time and am feeling nice...

THERE are TWO medicals. Like Patrick said, the first one a quick "first pass" medical screen to see if you have any MAJOR problems.
This is done at the recruiting centers AND at Aubagne.
You go to the doctors office, strip to your underwear and then you go in a room with the Doctor he asks you all kinds of questions, like "do you have any surgeries, injuries, problems, drug use, are you gay, do you like women, etc" then he asks you to turn around slowly so he can "check" you out for scars and problems. Lift up your arms, bend over and touch your toes, and he has you drop your underwear and checks that you have two balls...

Thats basically it. IF you pass this you go for a REAL medical which is much more in depth, includes eye tests, urine drug test, heart tests, hearing tests, and blood pressure, color vision, and a LONG in depth personal and family health history including all kinds of personal autobiographical questions (kind of like a Medical gestapo interview, They will ask you EVEN MORE when you go to the BSLE "gestapo" Interview later, assuming you pass this medical).

I suggest you get a basic medical check at home before you go, include a urine test to check for blood in the urine(you might have kidney problems, kidney stones etc) and get a basic hearing test and dental check up just to make sure there isnt some problem that you didnt know about. It would save you the trip. Plus you might be able to correct the problem.

Do a search for the Luc Leger. It is done running in front of the selection building, it is a 25 meter track that you will run back and forth on, over and over and over, you listen for beeps. WHen you hear a beep you run from one end to the other then stop. Then wait for the beep and then run again...over and over. The beeps get faster and faster and faster. You start out at a VERY light jog, and end up, IF you last that long, doing Full on very fast sprints. one level is 4 X 25 meters= 100m. You want at least a 7. Some get by with 6 if you are strong in other areas, BUT they may not take you if there are more guys who finished better. ALWAYS shoot for the maximum, meaning WAY MORE than 7!! DO NOT STOP if the other guys have dropped out, Keep going and ONLY stop when the Caporal tells you to stop. Get the best score you can. I have seen guys give up on the test and they could have still run farther. That is stupid. Do your best.

You need to train BOTH long distance running for endurance and practice sprints and fast runs, I would recommend some hill and stairs running.

    There you go.

    Lightbulb Interval

Thanks for the info guys! But one thing that isnt mentioned is the time interval. I downlad the MP3 file linked by Beu? in another tread , but that one were settled for 10 runs (a 20m) pr.level. Prolly as good practise as any, but still I whanted to test myself on the legion`s Luc-Léger. Testing my wereabouts on the levels. But todo so I need to know the time intervals, can anyone assist me on this one?

Another thing, my understanding based on the given info Luc-Léger was like this?:

    • 25m pr. run
    • 4 runs pr. level?
    • Time pr. level?

That makes the minimum 700m lol, wich didnt make any sence..
So if anyone could enlighten me (in a none grumpy way, im a sensitive person ) I would be trilled

    Cheers
    -April-

Edit: If its done like the the "normal" beep test, stages/levels goes down like this:
    4*25=100*10=1000*7=7000
Wich makes the minimum 7km, wich didnt make any sense either.. lol
But again, I dont know the time intervals!

    Hmm...
You are confusing the issue and confusing me too...Just dont make it so complex.
I took the test, I passed the test, I am not an expert, to my understanding from having taken it in Aubagne this is it (i could be wrong on a few things but this should be close).

You do 4 runs at 25 meters, per level. 4x25=100meters total, That is 4 beeps at the same speed (something like 10 -12 seconds per beep i think).
Your foot must generally cross the line to get counted as successfully complete that lap, though they give you some leeway till you get used to the pace. Usually if you fail to cross the line 2x then you are pulled, but ....this varies with Caporals. I saw a lot of things that were administered a bit differently depending on the Caporal/Chef in charge. Some were more lenient, some were harder. Do your best, not too fast, not too slow.

It starts SLOW, every 4 beeps, or 100meters, you start a new level, thus the beeps get FASTER. Do a minimum of 7 levels, which equals 700 meters and you have a chance, do better and have a better chance of getting accepted (assuming you do well in the other tests)

You will need to do your own research to get the exact speed/number of seconds per level.
It really doesnt matter. It isnt an extremely hard test, you just need to be fit, if you are conditioned to running LONG and running FAST, and can do sprints with short rest intervals you will do well. The better you are at those tasks, the better your score. Dont over analyse, you could train like a madman to ace that test and they will send you home on day one because someone doesnt like your attitude or you have some undiagnosed medical problem or whatever...
Train hard, work hard, be confident, obey orders and just hope for the best. You really can't do much more than that.

Tnx mate, I am prolly "over analysing" things

Edit: isnt that what whannabee is all about? hehe.. Over analyse and draw own conlutions + asking dumb questions about everything that doesnt mean anything!

Be carefull tho, there are beep tests of 20m and 25m!!! Don't know which this one is... (no time to check it out, have to leave in a few minutes)

I do have the 25m beeptest on computer but I don't know how to put it on this site...
