    Help!!!!!!

    Help!!!!

Those of you who know me know I have had a few "troubles" the last few weeks and I have had to face a few home truths... home truth number one? Family will start coming before adventure!

Right it's like this, it's been my dream forever and a day to retrain. To do something other than point a weapon and have them pointed back at me. Those who have done the job know that after a few years it gets a bit boring. Soooooo...................

I have four chapters finished to a book that goes through the entire time in the Legion and the eight months spent in Baghdad. It laughs at and with the Legion and it talks of bootlegging and illegal arms sales in Iraq. It goes through the everyday duties of the PSD teams and deals with the mental scars working there leaves behind. I do not want to bust things wide open and start pointing fingers, I do not want to glorify war, I do want to show the reader what goes on inside a soldiers head. There are some things in the book which will make people at least look at both the Legion and the Iraq conflict with a different perspective.

My question is this, what do I do with it now? I have been told by a cpl of people its good but can I start now trying to sell it or promote it or even to simply promote interest in it? I want a new start, a new job. Any pointers you ladies can give will be welcomed.

I don't know, but the topic seems to be relevant and "hot" (Iraq conflict, mercs). Isn't it possible to send your book to potential publishers? Or atleast contact them and tell them what it's all about. They are in it for the money of course, so if they think it's a good idea.....voila.

It was good advice to contact Martin. Find yourself a literary agent. You can also consider selling your story to magazines. Soldier of Fortune would be a good place to start. By the way, they have an ancien on their staff.

You might look into self-publishing. If you own a Macintosh they have several professional publishing programs. My Uncle did a book about my grandfather's service in WWII with one of these programs and you would swear it was done by a real publisher.

    Beau,

Go to your local libary and see if they have a copy of the writer's market. If not then here is the link for it on amazon. The book will help and answer all of your question about getting your book on the market. The book also has a list of agent's you can use.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

It's has all the information you need. Good luck with your new adventure.

Well, just try to find a publisher and print the book out!
Well, the final decision for everyone is either hell or heaven. Which one you choose? (personally, I will choose the first...)
