    French Submarine Support Contract

Re: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The above links to an article discussing a contract re French attack submarines.

At the bottom and a sidebar, there's an ad for a March '06 conference on Peacekeeping to be held at a J'burg hotel. Will be busy giving free advise here at Cervens dot net. Please give the peace conference my RSVP regrets.

    Saluations,

I hope the new [renovated] nuclear submarines will have less troubles and complications than "Charles de Gaulle" had during the sea trials.

    MEIN GOTT !!

Those peace conferences are always populated by some high flying academics from the UN that has no whatsoever touch with what is happening on the ground.
There is actually a whole population that spend their lives traveling from conference to conference all paid by different countries taxpayers.
I was in Johannesburg during the world summit of sustainable development; it was disgusting to see all these monkeys full of badges going from cocktail to cocktail, and at the end, what happened?? Nothing !!

Anyway, Indaba is not actually a top hotel, so maybe the finances are down in the UN

They are refits of old submarines that must have been in service already for 25 years.

At least the “De Gaulle” exists, not like the CVN of Norway or some other Central European country I know very well

All right - renovated submarines. But I presume they will still change much of the equipment and the outer gear. But is this practical? Wouldn't it be more practical to built six new ones instead renovating the old junk??? I am sure they would come cheaper for French taxpayers. We did some of these renovation works on our tanks and we have thrown away millions $. As it turned up at the end it would be much cheaper if we would bought new ones. Just thinking on loud...

Hehehehe... Yes, it (Charles de Gaulle = le bateau maudit) exists but for how long? Until she looses her 19 ton propeller again?
