    Running In The Legion

WHEN YOU LEARN TO RUN WEAR THE CHEAPEST AND OLDEST TRAINERS YOU HAVE AND NOT SOME FANCY NIKE ONES.

WHEN I JOINED THEY TOOK MY NICE TRAINERS OFF ME AND GAVE ME ONES LIKE THESE BUT THE BASIC BLACK ONS.

LUCKILY ME I USED TO RUN BAREFOOT ON BEACHES.

They are Dunlop's so I guess they give you a good grip when you are on top speed in a turn

    lol..

...... in the CDN army the platoon leader whatever rank he is can be charged for making the soldiers under his order run in combat boots.. new law passed a few years ago..

They are now reviewing the 13 km sac a dos walk which might be replaced by a physical test that includes the step (cardio), pushups, grip strengh and situps.. In some units this has already started..

I personally believe this is a good thing as it will save the back/health of our soldiers in the long run give us healthy veterans.

Talibanul, the first 7 letters of your name are a bit sus' to me but don't worry about what you are going to run if and when you join. Just get yourself out on the road every other day, mon, wed, fri, sun, then tue etc. average between 3-5 miles and once a week to 2 weeks do a run double the diistance. you don't have to go hell for leather you just want to build up your stamina. I havn't read this out of a book its what iv'e done for years. Nowadays I run cause I enjoy running. Not as fast as I use to be, but any way after say 3 weeks (keep in mind to record your timings for each distance) you may ask but how do I know how far I've gone, buy a map and mark out a 3 mile, 5 mile 6 mile and 12 mile, you will notice as time goes on the run will become easier. You could do it like this.
    mon/ 3mile - easy
    wed/ 3mile - easy
    fri/ 3mile
    sun/ 5mile
    tue/ 3mile
    th/ 3mile
    sat/ 6mile
    mon/ 5mile
    wed/ 3mile
    fri/ 3mile
    sun/ 12mile - easy
and then repeat the whole process again. the first time you do the 2weeks your not really pushing it your just getting your bodyworked into it but even so take a note of the times for reference for when you start pushing your self.
When I was serving if say we had a run in the morning once we'd finished at night we would go and have another run but more relaxed. Once you start getting fitter when you can you will probably run every day as I and many others during our time in service and even today. you are never too old.
