    Something missing here?

I'll be a Devil's advocate and make the observation that the media response to this is much lighter than say, a bunch of Marines giving a few suspect Taliban a "good kicking", pissing on Kuran or making detainees stand about in their undies. This event is beyond comprehension. I thought to invite, as a Muslim, a guest into your home was to afford them food, drink and protection. This is also an Afghan tradition and was also extended to non-Muslims under Nanawatai.
I think Joe may be able to recount similar events in Algeria during the war there. But this is different because Algeria was a truly ‘dirty war’, there was no religious undertones. It was nationalistic and very bitter. This new story is truly sickening. I think, if they want a “sale guerre” the West should bring it to them and the media should butt out. Enough is enough.

This sort of thing did also happen in Algeria. It was a fifty- fifty chance you took accepting an invitation to the home of an Arab family.

Google 'Taqiyya' (spelling varies). Something my Muslim friends have spoken of frequently.

If anyone has read Marcus Lutrell's book, 'Lone Survivor' they would recall an example of 'Nanawatai' where (after a Google search) the Pashtun village, Sabri-Minah, took him in & refused all demands by the Taliban that they hand him over. Food, shelter, treatment for his wounds & protection. I recall even reading of fire fights breaking out between the villagers & the Taliban.

Knowing the Ft Bragg and Ft Campbell varient of the species involved, I am sure they will let their opinions on this matter be known to the extended families and friends involved in the perpetration of this event.

"Hearts and Minds? Hearts over there in that ammo box and minds go in that bucket there" is I think how I remember it goes.

Solves nothing really but makes everyone feel better for a while.
