On my last traction up at selection i was really squeezing it out - was pretty much stationary half way through the motion. he told me to stop but i continued till i'd finally squeezed it out. took about an hour mind. he waited for me to finish though. pretty sure it went down well.

I recommend not doing it daily on continuous basis. The body do not get time to build new muscles if you do it everyday, you keep braking down.
I found to really quickly increase pullups.
Work on basis 3 weeks hard one week absolute lightest possible to give body time to build
then in the week same principle, break it down. 3 days hard. max every alternative day. the days inbetween work on other body parts or use alternative methods, like rope climbing for alternative days. and then one day absolute nothing. the body need time to adjust and rebuild the muscle you break down in intensive training sessions.

then after the 3rd week when you take a week of (not totally off but very light work, no maximums nothing), you will be surprises to see how much you will increase the first day of the 5th week when you go all out maximum
week1-3 ---- hard every second day, maximums, days inbetween alternate exercises or other body parts
week4 -------- absolute cruse week, some slow running, maybe a nice long walk, but nothing really hard and no pullups.
week 5 first day --- test maximum pullups, and then the next 3 weeks cycle starts.

Alternatives to just doing pullups are:
    rope climbing
throw towel over pullup bar and pull yourself up by holding the two side.
same as above but from lower bar so that you actually have to hang like 45 degrees.
Wide arm pullups with hands a bit wider then normal
    etc etc etc..
(you will quickly build hand strength when doing pullups with a towel. important in pullups and rope climbing and you hit the right muscles regularly, but from a different angles. Its been proven to slightly target the muscle from different angle give huge results - too much same exercise will result in body stabilise and in long run can be even negative sometimes. So always try adding new exercises, that way body forced to always keep adjusting building "LEAN" muscle - and when i talk about building muscle it is to be building lean muscle. (not growing big-that is not what you want to do)

dont know your weight etc, but if you carry a bit of extra weight, try and drop a few kilo's. It make the world of difference.

(Just remember that you will train your ass off, but the week you going to legion, that whole week you will also not train much, that is ok, that will give body time to rebuild strength and you will rathr need your energy to control the mind masturbation games during selection. and yes you will have opportunity to train if you first go to paris, you will be stuck there few days, but just relax. you will see many people trying to impress and show off and train there hard, but come testing day they are fcuked. if you go directly to aubagne, then it is different matter, you will do test in second third day so even here ensure you slow down training just before you leave for selection - there is not a sportsman in the world that will not reduce workload before a big competition - they never train maximum till day before big event.)

Similar position here, bro. I feel good about the fitness, press-ups, etc. but am worried about the pull-ups.

No idea how many I can do. Worked my back out yesterday at the gym using machines so will have a crack at max pull-ups on Monday once I've recovered for a bit longer. Gonna be shitting bricks if I struggle!

Planning to join up in 3-4 weeks. Good luck to you, mate. I shall follow your progress if you keep us updated.

Oh, just noticed that you're also from West London... me too... freaky! I'm a long way off 6ft 4" and 100kg though; we'd be like David and Goliath if we were standing side-by-side in the FFL haha. Don't know when you're heading off but maybe we could PM each other or something in the meantime, if you'd like? Chat about logistics, progress, and what not...
