    Classic cars.

So does anyone own or like classic cars? (American, European, whatever)
I've always really liked them, my first car was a 1955 Ford Customline. Well it still is my car, I was probably told 100 times by people "You'll never have one of those at your age!"
Yeah they're expensive to maintain and require some mechanical knowledge (mine was $850 cause it needs some work but runs) but honestly isn't it worth it?
They're nice cars for sure, if you like 9 miles to the gallon.

Well, this depends on how you define "Classic" WRT cars.

I wouldn't call any car made after 1942 when the last auto-assembly lines were converted to War production, and POVs ceased to be produced, to be a "Classic" car.

"Antique" autos are generally considered to be those over 25 years old, and I've owned a bunch of those - mainly because I'm pretty much an antique myself. I've owned:

'56 VW Karman Ghia (bought in '58)
'59 VW Karman Ghia - (replaced the above, bought after I wrapped the above around a telephone pole in early '62. Took it to Germany, sold it when I got back.
'65 Turbo Corvair Cpe (180 bhp) - replaced the above in Mar, '65
'66 Corvette Sting Ray Roadster, 350 bhp, replaced the above in Nov, '65 (Corvair was a lemon and I really wanted a Corvette anyway)
'64 Cadillac Convertible, bought in '67 when I got out of the hospital, sold it 5 months later when I went to Vietnam ('67-'71)
'66 Lincoln Continental Coupe, bought in late '71 in Lawton, OK, sold it 6 months later for a stake in a Poker Game
'64 Rambler Coupe - Mid-'72 cheap transportation while playing Poker full time, sold 6 mo later when I busted out and got a real job.
'64 Pontiac LeMans coupe - Late '72 cheap transportation while I replenished my bank account
'67 Dodge Dart - early '73 - more cheap transportation, drove it from Lawton, OK to Annapolis, MD.
'75 Ford Mustang II GT - Company car/POS. Got it early '75
    '67 Mercedes 230S sedan - Bought early '76
'75 VW Rabbit, '79 VW Quantum Syncro, '90 Audi V8 Quattro, '86 Porsche 911 3.2 Cabrio; '91 Audi V8 Quattro 5-speed and a cubic shitload of other more recent vintage autos, including '04 VW R32 and '11 Porsche Cayman (987C).

64 MGB, my first car, taught me to love tiny convertibles that weigh more than a modern SUV (was all metal) and to hate Lucas Electronics, proof that there were electronics as buggy as Microsoft's software long before computers. Still miss it.

Never owned anything automotive made in Ol' Blighty, but the best friend of my future first wife lent me her MGA to use when I came down to NYC, in the winter of '60. In just a couple of weeks I learned all I ever wanted to know about the Prince of Darkness (Lucas Electrics.) IF they equipped that MG with a manual crank, I'd never have gotten that sucker started.

That car was a HOOT! Mine was, unfortunately, a Lemon and spend more time in the stealer's shop than in my hands, and I finally had enough after 8 months. I took a real bath when I traded it, but the Corvette was the diametric opposite of the Corvair in quality; and in a league of its own in the power department!

I've owned three cars over the years that remain my favorites, each for different reasons; my '86 911, because it was everything you think of when you think "911," (Porsche is right, there is no substitute!) my "66 Sting Ray roadster, because the only thing on the road that could dominate it (other than a 427 Corvette) was the 427 cobra, and my '91 Audi V8 Quattro 5-speed manual, a spectacular machine - as luxurious as anything on the road, really what a 4-door porsche 928 would be.

Today I drive an '09 VW GTI which I expect will be the last car I ever own. It's a fun little toy but nothing to write home about.

Mine happen to be an excellent vehicle until I crashed it.

This is what my car is like, not my picture but I don't have any of mine on this computer.

Oh yeah, that's a '55 alright, one of my friends in H/S had one just like that one (new) in the 11th grade.

That one looks pretty nice, is yours in the same condition?

That's a real nice car "Red", post some pics of yours if you can. Too bad one like that here, assuming you could even find one, would cust some 60.000 reais. In 55 people in Brazil primarily rode in horses, my grandfather made a ****in fortune selling them back in the day.

A bit, the running board has rust though and right now the fuel pump is ruining my chances of driving it before winter
