Differences between regular French Army and Legion to you

    Hello All,

I can imagine the topic of the differences between French army & legion has been covered.
I know myself the basic details (bureaucratic mostly as everything else seems the same).

My question to legionnaires or people who know : In reality, what is the difference ?
I know this might shock, but do legionnaires always get sent before all others to tough spots ?
Are they treated worse than other grunts in French army by officers ?
Other differences you noticed as a legionnaire that are not written on the official site ?

Do you get to work with other Army units or do you always conduct operations with legionnaires only ?

Kind regards to you and answers much appreciated

What I'm especially keen to know is how the deployment on OPEX works.
    Who gets sent first ?

Legion ? Troupes de marine ? Regular infantry ?

Impossible to answer--depends on the situation.

Cool Re: Difference French army and legion to you

Everything depends on the zone where the shit is happening. In 2eme REP we have GUEPARD 12, 24,72 ( hours) it means that depending of the alert we will go from the regiment in that time.
On OPEX everything depends what the Big heads on the top will say, which unit/regiment will cover the terrain and offcourse on which place.
During CENZUB I have been speaking with the other guys from regular army. They are pretty much amazed how much we are disciplined (sorry guys can't say that for all the regiments in the Legion...), good in sports and handling the situation very good.

I can proudly say that 2REP is a great regiment, but still on the continent you have 1er RPIMA, Commandos Marine that have much more resources, better equipment... LIFE STYLE!
What the cops never figured out, and what I know now, was that these men would never break, never lie down, never bend over for anybody. Anybody.
