    Keeping fit in Aubagne

Does one get enough time for exercise and running in Aubagne? I read on a post on Mr. Voltigeurs site that one gets tested in Castell, straight from Aubagne with a Cooper test and others.
The couple of months I have been running long, and tested myself on the Cooper and I was condiderably slower, a lack of short distance running. I will still make the Cooper and I will consentrate on it now, for a week, but I was just wondering if there is enough time to train in Aubagne?

John, from what I've read is that they make you do the lug luger in lieu of the cooper nowadays. I'm not sure if that's what exactly your question was. Or you can wait til you get a more definitive answer.

Hope this helps and that you make it mate! Cheers!

Yeah they use the Lec Luger test or otherwise known as the Beep Test. Once in Aubagne you will do a fair bit of running, although short distances, when the corporal calls the EV's you run, breakfast, lunch, supper time you run towards the hall etc...when you arrive at the Legion you first placed in a sort of a holding area, not sure what its called, over there you sit around bored out of your mind, wash some cars, mop floors, watch a TV that does not work...on the plus side there is a bunch of books maybe about 30 or so but only 3 different titles lol. So you can train if you want but pretty limited to running, mainly push ups and sit ups...once you pass the initial medical check you move on to the area, this is where you issued your blue tracksuit etc. In this area there are pull up bars, a mock up of the Lec Luger track, so you can train during the long waiting periods, unless of course you are cleaning the shitters (theres alot lol), kitchen or where ever else they tell you to clean.
I tried your point of view, I just couldn't get my head that far up my ass!

I have read all of this, thank you. But I read a post, where it is stated that AFTER Aubagne and the beep test, if you make it and go to Castell, you do a Cooper there straight away at Castell.

But this is just last minute nerves I guess, thanks for bearing with me.

Ahh ok, read your question wrong...Saturday morning hangover. Im sure one of the Anciens is best to hear from, or perhaps someone recently serving. Dont worry to much about it, concentrate on making selection first and Castel when you get there

You going to be doing a lot of running in Castel anyway I presume hehe

relax mate, you will hold your fitness for three weeks without any training needed. Plus, if you have any 'niggles' like a strained calf (like i do) those three weeks in selection will be a decent rest before the ball-breaking events in Castel commence
With your Shield, or on it.

Eyes on the prize John, you've done so much to get to this point, I can only imagine what's going on in your head, maintain composure and the rest will follow through.

    Re: Keeping fit in Aubagne

Just worry about getting through selection. Mouth shut, ears open, let everyone else give them an excuse to bin them. Friendly, courteous and helpful without complaint. (But not a kiss ass, obviously) Honest with the interviewers but only answer what they ask.

Once you get to Castel life becomes very very very simple. Each day only focus on not giving up today and sticking it through to tomorrow morning. You can handle everything they throw at you as long as you focus on not giving up today.

Bonne chance ! I expect you to be in regiment when I hit the gates.
You never know until you try.

    Re: Keeping fit in Aubagne

The tests in aubagne are just an assessment of your physical ability, but, if your coughing and spluttering after running 50m they aint gonna waste any time on you, being of an average fitness or just above average fitness is a good starting point. For all you young spunks around the 20 mark dont worry too much, its surprising how much punishment the body can actually take when pushed to the limits, as, if you get through you will find out for your self, may the pain go with you hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahhahahhahaha hahahhahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhaahhahah ahahahhahahhahahahhahahahahahhahahhahahhahahahahha hahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahh ahahahahahhahahahhhhahhahahhahhhhahhahHAHAHHHAHAHA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAHHAHAHHHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAHAHYHAHAHHAHA HAHAHHAHHAHAHAZHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHHAHAHA
