    Passport.

My passport is valid until December, seeing that I am going in March, it is okay for my visa. My question. Will the legion mind if my passport expires during the time that I am there, if I make selection off course?

    Re: Passport.

No it will be fine, I asked while I was there as well.
My passport would of expired 7 months into it, so I asked during the initial interview (when they collect your belongings) and the Cpl said it does not matter.
I tried your point of view, I just couldn't get my head that far up my ass!

Silly question John. Renew it. No question. It will be your last chance to do so if you do get in without having to give messy explanations to your Embassy, and it will give you options moving forwards during perms. It's easier to say you lost your passport and get a new one, than try to renew it in a foreign country.

Always reduce downside risk to a minimum... LOL :-)

Thats also true, I can imagine trying to renew it at an embassy could be somewhat of a headache.

Jesus, I went there today. You have no idea. And I ******* refuse to bribe. There is on option for an emergency passport though, which takes a week. (African time probably two weeks)

Yes, 10 years ago when I got my passport they posted it to my house. Two weeks. Like a normal country. Can you imagine waiting for a passport, in the post today!! Anyway. Afriqu du Sud.

    Re: Passport.

Im pretty sure it is, when I turned 18 needed a passport asap and got a temp, valid for a year only and some countries do not accept them...so no surprise that we are offered them.

    Re: Passport.

On the French consulate website it said that they dont accept temporary passports. I will find out if a temp and emergency passport is the same thing.

    Re: Passport.

You should try to renew Asap, it never hurts to prepared! When I got my passport, from the US, it took them 6 weeks to give it to me, I don't know how it works in South Africa, I just assume that it will take awhile. If it doesn't take real long like you said, then might as well get it out of the way!

    Re: Passport.

If it's because you will have problems to apply for the visa i may help you. I had the same problem last year, my visa was in my old passport, so i renew it, i said i lost it, but keeped it. and i travelled with both.
but the trick is, your new passport needs to have the same serial number to your old one.
