Giving it a try in 2011

    Hi All

I'm going to give the Legion a try this year! I'm 33, which i know is on the old side but fit and speak basic French which I'm trying to improve at the moment! Any advice on the fitness side and in general would be great! I'm doin a lot of searching and have found great info on here!

Thanks for the help so far!

Just sort yourself out when you feel ready just go mate. You can read what you need here, but you don't need other peoples opions to tell you what to do...many have been where you're bout to go..just do it yourself!

I'll be hitting the gates at age 37, and unfortunately despite my physical shape and physical appearance, my passport doesn't lie. Us "old" men simply need to be prepared to impress and hope that personality-wise we are exactly what they are looking for, AND that someone else isn't exactly as shiny as we are and happens to be 10-13 years younger... But, don't give it a shot and you are guaranteed to be a loser, and a wuss at that..

I'd like to be there by Camerone, but loose ends are hinting it may turn more towards the fall, no point in 35+ trying to join in the summer with the tidal wave of children with pacifier marks still around their mouths.. If they are kind enough to let me through selection I'll be in service for at least 18-20 years, most likely until they push me out, and I'll be a proud member of the dysfunctional family until the day I die, no matter what else I choose to be in life. But, as they say, get to the gate first, ce n'est pas?

Look for the kid with the old man eyes that talks with a poker face and a twinkle in the eye.
