Plus the USA is in a war that France was against from the word go. So one of the first questions the BSLE is gonna ask is: why aren't you fighting for your own country? If you won't fight for your own country, why would you fight for France???

You know Mark you are right. Why should anyone bother trying? I mean when there are superheros like you out there who get the boot why should anyone else have a go at it? You are another person on this board who really doesn't have much to say, all you do is lip off and tell people that they aren't going to make it. If this was coming from an Ancien i would shut up and listen to what he said and try and learn from it, but your posts have no message, you are just bitter cause you flunked.
If it is so impossible to make it, then why do people get in ? Why are you going back in 3 months if it is so impossible? If you are just here to lip off and have people think you are cool because you survived a few days of corvée don't bother, but if you actually want to start posting some positive messages, by all means do so.

If you wont fight for your own country, why would you fight for France???For the US wannabes just say: "La guerre en Iraq est une mauvaise guerre" or "guerre injuste" or "guerre d'invasion et non de libération". But in the end, both the French and the US want oil exploration and exploitation rights, and concesssion and reconstruction contracts with their subsequent renewal into the distant future. By the by, the control over Iraqi oil also gives a leverage over the Chinese in 30 to 40 years time in their economic potential: That's "Geo-strategy 101" at kindergarden. :)

So shagging what if this wars wrong? France will have its own "wrong" war sooner or later and you as a bog standard grunt will be expected to fight not to ****in comment or play politics. Pick up your gun and shoot, rights and wrongs don not come into it once you are wearing a Kepi!

I was trying to find an excuse not a reason for the US wannabes in the blinding, scourging lighhouse glare of the Gestapo interview. :D

Any war outside your own borders involving any nation including France can be interpreted as a wrong war.

Just look at the ferking mess left in Algeria and the Battle of Algiers: tens of thousands if not more tortured, raped in kangaroos courts and summary executions. All buried in the sand without a trace but carved in the individual and collective memories to this day of Algerians that I've met. A very sore, sore point to this day in franco-algerian relations. The first French defense minister to visit Algeria since independence in the early 1960s was this year - and a woman, Minister Aillot. Somehow I don't think the French realised the value of sound decolonisation in Algeria like the Brits in India, give or take a punctual massacre (...), in the pursuit of long-term strategic objectives.

PS Read the second half of my preceding post again, Beau: it's nothing but national self-interest at work; and in the collective framework, if it affords additional leverage to the primary and moving principle in national foreign policy. My answer would be. "Already fought for my country, Did my time, rolled through who stood in the way just like everyone ells in 3rd Id 2/7 Inf".
Maybe super trooper you should do your homework. I gotta say if your in or were in the Legion, your attitude must have gotten your teeth ajusted a fair amount. I would find it hard to believe you served in the Legion or any army.

Good I'm actually glad my posts don't mean a hill of beans. And yes I DID fail selection. Why is for me to know, and not repeat. Not to share. Did I come back a much better man? More positive? Better suited to the Legion? Yes!

Will any of you make the 50/50 (or so) grade that make the mentalix???? Probably not. Add to this the fact you folks like to be rousters and will have social problems under the tent, civil will be an issue with you. Cut me I bleed. No issue there. Be anti social and a tuf guy under the tarp the gestapo will see it, and you will be civil.

Some how you all think that the Legion is a bunch of loosers that couldn't make the grade in their own country. Sorry the Legion has a VERY high standard! Even messing up in one singular area will be civil for you. How bad you mess up is how long you MIGHT be allowed to wait to come back. It ranges from good candidates getting 2 months to come back to NEVER.

I know how long it is till I'm allowed back...how long till you go???
