Hello.
You may or may not remember me from posts a long time ago on the other forum, but about a year or two ago I hung around the forum talking down about Europe and European armies in general, the Legion included. I have since joined the Army (U.S.) as an Infantryman and have been assigned to the 1st Armored Division, 1-6th Infantry Regiment, Baumholder Germany. After having been in Germany for a few months I am here to apologize for anything I may have said in the past about Europe. Being here has been one of the most eye-opening and best experiences of my life. This country is beautiful and the people are extremly clean, hardworking, and polite. As an American sitting in America and watching the news I thought of all Germans (And French) as little miserable people that spend their time hating America. Being here Ive yet to have one German (Or European) be rude to me (with the exception of a few Turks, but that is a different matter).
The German soldiers I've seen seem to be well trained and dedicated, and personally I wouldn't want to face them in a scrap if I didn't have to. I've travelled all over Europe and gotten pretty much the same impression everywhere. In fact I've been thinking about moving here after my enlistment comes up, we head to Iraq in November, and will be there for a year with no taxes and nowhere to spend any money, so I'll have plenty of moving money when we get back. The truth is, while I am loyal to my country, in most cases I like it here better than back home, things seem to run smoother, not as....hate-minded...and there is something about Germany I can't put my finger on, like it just tastes better to the mind than where I'm from. So um..yea, sorry about my comments before, if any of you remember them.
Oh yea, Danny you were right, Cosson and Copperhead were both me, I'm an only child.
Until whenever
