second leutnant, sounds like German army not Legion. An American friend of mine made adjudant, i hold a lot of respect for him he also made dinops, to make that rank in the Legion does some doing, it took him 16 years but he proved it can be done. I won't name him on the board as he hasn't given me consent, as alot of Anciens know to go from legionnaire to adujant and adjudant-chef, isn't easy, most legionniares won't even see 1ere classe, ive seen 2eme class plastered in medals, with long service records, if you want rank in the Legion, you will have to work hard to get it. Some wannabes think they are going to the REP and end up scrubbing kitchen floors in the 13eme, some don't want the REP and end up in craps, that's how the Legion is. A lot of Anciens know there is a danger rank, c/chef, usaully you hit that rank and it's rare you will go any further, but it's a powerfull rank to have in the Legion. Legionnaires seem to watch out more for c/chefs than they do any other rank, you know if a c/chef comes looking for you your in a heap of shit, and they dont let go.

Have a lot of respect for toughing it out for so long in the NCO ranks...Five years FFL was long enough for me...
