Hello community,

I think we have all felt what it is like to be running and reaching that mental barrier, the point where you tell yourself you want to stop, the point where you feel asthough you must stop.

How do you overcome this? Is there anything you do, you run faster? Maybe you tell yourself something that really pushes you on and makes you run that extra distance that could give you the edge.

Please post methods and things that work for you!

Thanks, Elias

I suppose if i was running that much and needed an incentive to keep going it would be that at the end of the run there would be a HUGE bar of chocolate just for me :D :D

Hi,
I have been a sportsman & according to my exp. It is all in the mind as they say MIND OVER BODY. Have you ever experienced that if you are practicing under a coach he can make you work harder than you can do on your own as he will be shouting on you, kicking your ass to
take another lap or complete another set or do it faster? Coach simply motivates you to push your limits.
So it about the DECISION that you take before you start running that you have to run X distance & come what may. Believe in the power of decision that you will do it. start with the realistic goals.

You will conquer the world if you can conquer yourself.

I guess there are no specific recipes for overcoming the mental barrier except to continue with training. With time your performance will improve even if you don't push yourself to the limit every time. Even if you just persist with training at a moderate intensity you'll see significant progress soon. It is inevitable. Moreover that way you avoid overtraining injuries. Nevertheless it is important to test your endurance from time to time and reach the level of maximum intensity associated with this mental barrier. Your task is to bear the pressure and sustain your running speed until your workout goal for the day is reached. It's difficult but there are no silver bullets.

Holy shit.....Elias you are only 14....you gotta get a girlfriend or summin kid! Take your mind of the FFL for a few yrs and see where your life is then, your just a wee ducklin kid,no offence intended, but you should be doin alot more than thinkin bout the FFL at your age, many things will change for you from the age you are now and by the time you hit 18... I guarentee it.And if when you are 18 you decide to go to the FFL then go for it and the best of luck to you...jus sayin you should have more on your mind than signin your life away for a five yrs lol.. many men take that decision because they feel its their only option...etc etc. All the best..

14? bloody hell?haha for me personaly...to get through the barrier i break things down and split my distance and speed down into a progresive path that will give me the results im looking for (it may take a bit longer but i get the results):)...trying to do to much to fast will just sicken you and make the barriers you are faceing even harder to break...there is no easy way round this...you just have to keep chipping away...its a war of attrition on your self...good luck...
