Hey everybody. A little about me, Im 23 years old. Right now I am going to school to get a degree. I've always been obsessed with the Legion since I first heard about it probably 2 years ago. I recently got out of the U.S. Navy. I plan on trying to get into the Legion in about a year or so. My main problem is right now I am an inactive reservist so i don't know if the Legion will look at that as still being under contract. I think I'm still gonna go for it and see what will happen. I'm confident i'll pass all the physical and other tests involved. I just hope they will want to take me. That's all for now I guess. Talk to you later.

Welcome Dgray. The Legion wont care about inactive reserve status. If you are going to enlist, bon voyage and keep in touch.
PS Visit the museum in Aubagne BEFORE signing on.

Thanks everyone that defenitly made my day. I woke up this morning and looked at my discharge paperwork and it said I was in a reserve status till 2011. I was pretty angry but you re assuring me defenitly helps. Thanks again.

But will the US military care? I doubt you'll be able to fill out AQS(or whatever the annual questionnaire is called) in the legion. Plus, you still are under contract, so I'm sure it's in violation with some regs.
But anyhow, I'm active duty US military right now, and if I joined the FFL while I was in the IRR and got called up, I wouldn't give a shit. Good luck finding me.

WHAT'S YER HURRY ??: I'm sure the US Navy reserve has plenty of opportunities until 2011 so why waste them at your young age: you can join the FFL until you're 40: leave the US Navy reserve on GOOD TERMS...You should really try to serve out a war scenario (hint: Iraq/Afghanistan) before considering the FFL. Meantime, concentrate on your degree and prepare yourself by learning also some basic French as a minor subject at uni...

I want to get in the legion while im still kinda young because right now im in pretty good shape and eager as ever to fight my hardest and best. I keep getting mixed answers about this whole inactive reserve crap. oh well im still gonna go try out in less than a year and if they tell me to come back in 2011 trust ill be there the day my inactive reserve status is done.
