Hello everyone, just making my introduction. I've been poking around this website for a few weeks now and decided that I should become more involved since I recently made the decision that I'm definitely going to try-out for the Legion, I'm preparing myself to leave in Feb. '07.

This forum has already been tremendously helpful in my quest for information and has has answered 95% of my questions that roll through my head as I contemplate what I'm getting myself into. In fact what I've read here has cemented my decision in stone, so thanks to the moderators and posters of cervens.net.

A little about myself: I'm 25, an ex-competive swimmer and BMX/motocross racer. I was born in Central America, I am of Spanish/French bloodlines, came to the US at a young age and left again in my early teens to study abroad. After graduating from an international baccalaureate school I came back to the US to go to college and keep my residency. My life so far has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. Currently I'm working as a fashion designer which may baffle some of you, but thats also a clue to my personality, I have always gone against convention and stereotypes, so any presumptions any of you have already made are probably WRONG :D

My interest in the military has been life-long but I never seriously considered enlisting until a couple years ago, for many of the same reasons most of you have contemplated joining up. It was only very recently that I made my decision to try for the FFL, and though I would like to just take off tomorrow and not look back, reality has to be dealt with, loose ends tied up here, and aerobic fitness elevated.

Well, that's it for now, thanks in advance for any interest and/or replys to the posts that you all will see from me in the next few months until my departure.

Welcome onboard. Just one advice. DO NOT tell anyone in the Legion you worked with fashion. :D Especially not the Gestapo. Hope you know why.

HaHa, do you guys really think the Gestapo would think I'm "swishy" if I told them I worked in the fashion industry? Well, I used to work summers in contruction during high school, and as a bartender in college, maybe that would be better? I'd hate to lie to experienced interveiwers like the Gestapo:eek:

Yes, they would think you're queer if you tell them. Why give them a reason to send you civil.

Just tell em that you "auditioned" the models;) :DOK...can you please send me a backstage pass to the next fashion show in Paris, please ?....

PS: the FFL nº2 uniform "couleur Terre de France" (about town) is designed by none other than Pierre Cardin: so there is a current bond with the fashion world....for you to figure out how you can connect yourself to the FFL through this "détail".....

No: but being a little serious....
1) why do you want to join ?
2) do ya speak some French ?
3) do you have mil experience ?
4) are you prepared for the challenges during the 5 years including a potential early appointment with your maker ?
5) are you prepared to continue those challenges after completing a 5-year contract for the best you can say is "landscape gardening" and "removals" work in France - unless ya go back to the fashion world ? Now, that would be a good plan !!!

If it is "NO" to two of the five: forget, dude....

Don't I feel like a shrink ? In fact, in yer case, go and see one !!!! Ya get access to beautiful women and ya want to trade that for spotty faced, ugly MFs like meself to look at most of the day.....Jesus !!!!
