Hello out there. As you can tell I'm brand new to this. I've been looking to join the Legion for the last 4 years. I haven't joined yet because I wanted to serve my country in the US Army. They have made it really hard because I've had a troubled past. Its been 7yrs. since I did anything wrong. I totally changed my lifestyle for the better. But it turns out that good Ol Uncle Sam and all his rear echelon @#%^#&! don't care how hard I've worked to be a better man. I'm hoping to talk to active or former Legionaires about joining and what are my chances of being accepted. I am very disiplined and focused. I strongly feel I've got what it takes. I'll discuss more later. But I really need to talk to some who's been there. I won't waste your time. I mean no disrespect to any one who hasn't been there, but this is serious business for me. I plan on joining in Feb. 2007. I'm willing to leave it all behind. Its all or nothing!

Hey Repman. Thanks for the reply and the boost. It is a real pleasure to talk to a Legionaire and thank you for serving. I was just checking out a website of an Aussie thats in the 2rep from what he says at selection there was 400 and out of those they only took 17. I wonder why so many get turned down? If you have any advice to help me get ready "I'm all ears" as they. If this is a question you've had to answer too many times I apologize. I feel that when I go I must be as ready as I can be. I've been reading also that its hard for an exconvict to get in. Yet even though my chances may be small I'm still going to go! I'll never forgive myself if I don't find out first hand. The military just don't understand I'm not a troublemaker anymore. Its been 7yrs. I've been free for 4yrs. But everyday I live life to the fullest trying to be a better man than I was the day before. Everyone in my town sees that and they are even mad as hell that the Army is still not telling me yes or no. Ok I'm not trying to sound like a groaner I'm just giving ya a bit of insight. But hey my friend I'll tell a bit more later. Thank you once again. PS. I'm learning French in my spare time just in case I get accepted.

Its all or nothing!....Your mil background can be a positive factor: if you speak some basic French and - above all - UNDERSTAND basic French that's even better: but on either count don't expect anything and prepare for an eventual rejection. Ya won't know until ya try....
