Hi all,
My name is Mike. I live in Chicago, USA, and I am currently training to join the Legion. I look forward to talking with other Legion enthusiasts, Anciens, Legionaire, etc. Pleas forgive the remainder of this post as I am not familiar with how this forum works. I did read all the FAQ, but this question has not been definitively answered. The posted answeres are on both sides of the issue, and obviously only one answer can be true. I am including this in my intro post because I want to be a Legionaire more than anything else in this world and I am literally losing sleep over this issue, not knowing if my dream has been crushed before it has even been attempted.
I am training to enlist in the Legion. I am trying to make sure to do everything in my power to meet ALL of the requirements so I make rouge. My biggest worry is the fact that I wear glasses, contact lenses actually. My prescription is -3.25 left and -2.75 right. I have seen equally and opposite answers posted on this, not just on this site either. Half the people say that you should forget it if you wear glasses/contacts, and the other half say it is ok of you fall within the Legion limits. However, I never see Legionairres with glasses in pictures or TV shows about the Legion. Will I just be wasting my time and money enlisting? I was thinking about just wearing my contacts and playing it off like I have no vision problems ( I have contacts I can wear 24hours a day for 2 months if need be), and when they do wear out or I lose one I'll already be at least in basic if not almost finnished with basic. Will this work? If you don't say you need glasses do they actually lookin your eyes during selection, or just make you read an eye chart to see if you pass? I was going to get laser surgery, but just went in for my appointment and found out that I am not a good candadate (I have the number 1 reason people are rejected for the surgery, it has to do with the shape of the cornea, not poor eyesight). Can you put this matter to rest for me once and for all??? I anxiously await reading all of your comments
Thanks
Mike
