I have come to the conclusion that I am joining .I am 23 years old looking for adventure and just feed up of life, and want to do something diffrint ...in other words test my self...and rebuild my life...and also I told everyone I was going.....what kind of person would I be if I didnt go....everyone thinks am nuts for going... I feel like this would be a good thing for me....I guess my question is .....do u have to be a certain type of person, tough ....not scared of anything.......I mean dont they turn u into that as part of the training .....is it normal to be scared at first going to a country...by ur self not knowing what to be expected........p.s I understand the posibility I might not come back
......for the ones on this site....who went...how was ur feelings being there in the start

I was a NCO in the US Marines(5 years) (go ahead Yatez take a shot!!) before I ever made the flight and I was scared shiteless for the first year I was there.......(I also had difficulty with the language which did not help)...after a while you adjust to anything thats the key.
i dont want to down the us marines, but, they couldn't lift my bergen when i was on an excercise once wi them. i was in anti tank troop royal marines at the time and it took 3 us big lads to lift my pack i couldnt stop laughing/ im sorry to all you us marines but we are little strong people

Had to smile at Repman's comments on 'little strong people'.
I was the smallest Bootneck in my rct.squad and a reasonable boxer.
Now I am going to make Repman blush for he represented the Corps
and was champion. So no wonder the fist fight was won ! On an aside
I did security for the evential Lt.Gen.Victor (Brute )Krulak, whose son
became the Comdt.USMC.
Krulak senior made me feel tall. He was absolutely feral and all of 5'4"
just. His Gunny Sgt had to provide a box for him to stand on. He was
lecturing in London at Caxton Hall as a Maj. Gen.to officers of Col. and
above. I was a new 2Lt shavetail via the ranks on the main door.
In WW2 he was fantastic behind the lines fighting the Japs and this
established his reputation as did his book- 'First to Fight'. Semper Fi.:D

:D ....Roll yer die and take yer chances in the FFL....designer-made unit for "special scenarios" - of attrition - (...note that I don't say 'special forces'....) without any electoral fall-out for politicians polishing leather chairs with their rears well back in the rear....:D

You Limeys always did send shivers up my spine :D !!
The US Marines always were inferior to the Brits.......at least I learned that since I came on Cervens....
The British soldiers I came across prior to Fr were in Hong Kong in 78' and they were a great bunch of guys and we had a bash at the "Bull and Boar" or some shit like that. I used to get post cards occationally... I actually thought highly of them.
You guys are really tough and greatly feared by all the Marines I know, you always impressed us :D :D Thank God you're our Allies !!! or we might not still be a free nation. Viva la limey!!! viva repman86, viva la bullshite
apart from the odd little skirmish wi a few US Marines we got on mighty fine, after the wee sparring sess... we did have a mighty piss up wi your guys, great bunch, allways a pleasure to work with the US.
