I just wanted to know if you are a member of the French Foreign Legion is it guaranteed that you be sent to war? If so how long do you serve during war?
Also, not every job in the French Foreign Legion is infantry right? Are there non-combat jobs as well?
Thanks

Not everyone goes to combat, but in 5 years of service you should be deployed at least once. Being deployed doesnt mean you fight like infantry, you could be be deployed for anything really.

ThanksYoui'll do at least two years in a rifle platoon. There is no guarantee you'll see war. Once you're in it it's until the powers-that-be decide to get you out. Until that decision, you haul your own ass otherwise a "stray" bullet might get you from the wrong direction....
Not all jobs are infantry related: there is admin and supporting but then you become targets for numpties like Beau Sheep who like to open big semi- or fully-armoured sardine tins.
In war, your chances in conflict situations is with platoons with too much ammo hoarded from the munitions dumps. In Beirut, there were two ambushes, one the water- and the rubbsih-truck: three dead and one with both legs amputated. These are the dangers of a supporting role. I slept easy in a fully armed 'n dangerous platoon.
