Hello! I'm an American who has a great deal of admiration for La Legion Etrangere. In some of the posts I've read that Americans are pretty apathetic about the French- Indochina War. This is true! Many are apathetic about our own involvement there. Students can't even find Vietnam on a map. I, however, am interested. I've read some of Fall's books: Hell in a very small place, Street without joy, Two Vietnams, Last reflections on a war and Vietnam witness. What the Legion went through, there, is hard to even imagine. I enlisted during Vietnamization and couldn't even get into jump school. So I stayed here. I've read some posts about RC4 and can't wait to learn more. Thanks. Honored. Walter. I did make a static line jump in Crane, Tx. as a civilian. Older stuff with a round canopy, Capewells, etc... Felt good!

I'm glad that I didn't alienate everyone. I'm a Vietnam era vet. I never left the USA, though. I'm fascinated by military history. I can relate more to the Indochina war than our own war. We were a British colony. The '61-'75 war was a complicated mess. I love to read about the Paras, especially the Legion Paras. They were very brave men! Thanks for introducing yourself! Walter Boyd.
