i'm throwing this out here cause of the post by canard about his injury. BTW, sorry to hear it, canard.

overtraining can really hinder your overall goal. i know prospective applicants want to be ready when they apply to the ffl, as i am one of them. we run and train in hopes to be ready, and try to dodge the injuries.

i see alot of people do their runs with packs full of weight. how many of you really think this is necessary? anciens? fitness fanatics?

personally i don't run with a pack. i've done plenty of runs with one, but not in a long time. i feel long distance running to be more beneficial, and think the base it provides is sufficeint for a jump off point (in any direction) to more specialized training. the ffl will build you like they want you, right?

i cannot afford an injury at this time. not this close to returning to france. that's another reason i won't fight for my school. i've seen recruits pending their ship date to boot camp injure themselves and set their time line back, or completely disqualify themselves for enlistment all together.

so the original question: to run or not to run with a pack.

It is very much true. I train with my back pain. Beets a hell out of me.

I prefer none. If you must wear packs, you could walk, believe me it is 3 times better.

Of course.

Personally I think you should train to have a good condition. Not train to be superfit. You'll have the chance in basic training to train hard (first get there of course).
Running with back packs...it could lead to injuries and ruining or delaying your plans. Again, you'll have the opportunity when in basic.
Like I said, if you have a good basic condition you'll be fine. I know I was when i joined the army here

I am very guilty of training to be superfit and must admit it as caused me some little niggles here and there now i've found once i reached super fitness it could only be maintained by actually stepping down on the training levels and gradually building up the level comfortably thus proving bram's point 100%
