This is a book by a guy who joined in 1959 at 36 years old ( still hope for you older guys) and served in the infantry and later the 2REP, when they moved back to France. It gives a different viewpoint to that of Simon Murray who joined at age 19 but in the same year and whom is mentioned in the book with even a photograph. It is clearly a very different book though as this author served as an officer in the RAF during WW2 going on many bombing raids.
I would defenitely recomend it to anyone who enjoyed Simon Murray's book Legionnaire as it is well written. As it was published 10 years or so after Legionnaire it seems to have been written in such a way that the areas that Murray concentrates on, he gives less info but fills in things he didn't put in.
It doesn't seem to be widely available on the net though and I had to read a Large Print version from my library, intended for those with poor vision. If you have read it though, please comment.
