Well, I bought the plane ticket and leaving on January. I will enlist at Paris but might decide to travel to Aubagne straight. I really hope that everything turns ok. I will do my best and if they see that I'm qualified to join their rows then I will do it with honour. I bet that the Legion is looking for good shaped men, but I don't think that is the idea. The idea is to mould you into a elite soldier. You can't mold a person if he is too well trained.

Someone mentioned to me that if you Join in Paris they will look a little more "kindly" at your application, simply because it shows patience. I don't know if it is from a credible source, but it makes some sense.

Maybe it just shows them that you are stupid enough to join in Paris and not Abugne, possibly a "Test" for possible deserters? :D ... Ahhh Speculation

I bet that the Legion is looking for good shaped men, but I don't think that is the idea. The idea is to mould you into a elite soldier. You can't mold a person if he is too well trained.The idea is to have your FFL experience and to make the best of it. Not too many expectations and look for the positive aspects and your contribution but without too much zeal on certain mundane tasks: just do them.

Be careful with any disappointment you may experience for you will encounter some unsavoury people as well as the very well motivated...
