hi my name is locky i am 21 years old and i am very interested in joining the FFL. I am a qualifed welder but im not happy with my job in civvy life .....i have always wanted to be a solider since i was young and i want to start a new life for my self in the FFL, because the idea of running away to join the FFL is very very appealing to me. i have had ver very basic military training in Army cadets when i was going thru school so i have a rough i dea on disiplne and stuff like that ... i have no doubt i can pass the physical tests cos i have been playing A grade rugby union for the last 2 years and i am very fit . But what r the medical standards for Dental examination ..cos i have bad teeth will that hold me back ? once i have saved enough money for a flight over to france i will be there "as quick as look at ya" lol is there any ways of getting to france real cheap?? i cant wait i have been reading about the honour and disiplne of the FFL and i want to be part of that team... i was going to apply for the aussie army but the FFL has more appeal to me than anything else

Get your teeth fixed first. Get yourself hired by a Merchant Marine company to get to France. Be sure to read all the information available on the various Legion web sites.

One sergeant I knew was a welder in St. Nazaire, in Normandy (I think), before joining the FFL.

Some national airline carriers have lottery sites for some of their plane tickets. Try to see if Qantas has such a site...

Struce, Tony, yer man wus onli treing to ask serioes info...have a Castlemaine on me....I'd give a XXXX to a Sheila instead :D

Very true I'm sorry. But there again if his great great great grandparents hadn't stolen that loaf of bread he wouldn't be on the other side of the planet today would he ?

As Joe says, bad teeth are a no go. Ozzies however always seemed to be well looked upon.lol if they weren't petty thieves all i would have to do is jump on a boat or swim to France. I think i will be desirable if I had some military experience b4 enlisting in the FFL... I am going to enquire about the army reserve and go from there... Oh and Tony i don't drink xxxx much i drink VB (victoria bitter). I will get my teeth fixed it's no hassle or big drama so thanx guys for any info or replies posted. One day hopefully i can live out my dream and wear the képi blanc.

Don't dream too much... As you say, wear your country's uniform and push on to the FFL afterwards: a step at a time and be realistic... And if wasn't fer dirnking the knig's sheling, Aussieland weuld be filled with doeminoed-teheorised chinks and guks not just knagaroes, quala teddies nad mixamatosed wabets.... :D

May I suggest the commando or navy divers reserve?Seems to be good spec ops and elite training....if you decide to go FFl it will look good on the application,as well as you being already quite fit ;)
