When I've got time, basically. Early morning or late at night is most comfortable, heat-wise. But I've had to go running right in the middle of the hottest days this year this last week.

Definitely early morning.

Nothing better than being out running at 5/6 am whilst everyone is still tucked up in bed, very good for motivation. As the quote goes...

'The heights by great men reached and kept were not obtained by sudden flight. But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night.'

I suppose it's the best for losing body fat, in the morning... but I really like running, anytime :) even when it "hurts"... why, you ask?? it's because it feels so good when I stop :D

if your doing it for fitness, then two hours after brekky is the best time. however, if you want to lose weight, then early before brekky is best.

if your doing a weights routine, the former will do best because your hormone levels are highest. it also lets the body recover so you can sleep properly.

I didnt understand this, sry... on the day of doing weight routine, you should run after doing it or before?? in the evening or morning?

Early morning for me. I run about a total of 10 miles a week. And yomp a total 20 miles a week with bag full of weights.

I prefer the morning as it's less busier on the roads. Where I live paths are rare.

bag full of how many weights of how much weight???

just interested cause of myself, every sunday I do the 40 km march with few bottles of water... full, of course :D

and try doing some more running, if you can... as I learned, no need to do really long ones, just do them as often as you can... every other day would be great

About 25kgs. Which is about 50 pounds.... I think.

I run as much as I can. But I really need to start concentrating on upper body strength.

that's pretty nice backpack, but tell me is that balanced on your back?? I got some fear of injuries so I don't wanna put weights cause I got only those stupid dumbells which are not easy to adjust in the bag, so I use even number of bottles so the weight is balanced in the backpack... Dough I never did running with it, it's not really hard...

regarding upper body strength, I couldn't climb the rope using hands only today :mad: even dough 2 weeks ago I made it with no big harsh :confused:

I use dumbells too. I just put a few in, pillow, few in, pillow. It evens it out and all the weight isn't right at the bottom so it isn't pulling you back.

I find doing runs/walks like this better when listening U.S Military cadences. Especially ones about PT.

And I've never climbed a rope in my life. I might have to use my initiative (Spelling?) and get one and tie it to a top branch of a tree or something......

Stoeng gave the best, or really commonest-sense advice on the closed rope thread: buy that manila rope, some webbing, a carabiner — or whatever kind of rig you prefer, indoors or out — and get to it.

Just last month I was stressing about this. No gyms in the area have a rope! ahhh whaddamigonnadonah!?

Buy some rope on ebay, 1-1/2 or 2" thick, from 16 - 20ft, it's sold by the foot and will cost you about $50. Or there are any number of other outfits selling equipment at higher cost. Example of overpriced but quality equipment. (http://www.functionalhandstrength.com/outdoor_climbing_ropes.html)

Anyway, I head out to my parking lot "track" at 5AM not-so-sharp every morning after a cup of coffee. If my right calf throbs afterward, I take a two-day break. I'm a lifelong shirker of physical activity, esp. running, so I'm still at a mostly laughable stage. I'm not even sure I can progress very much beyond what I'm now doing, but I'll bloody well try. I do believe whoever said they switched from daily runs to sprints is correct; don't worry about running as far as you can, worry only about those 2800+m in 12mins. The point is to (sur)pass their standards of fitness, not to run a marathon.

I haven't even tried running with a pack. Only because I can't afford one right now though. Anyone care to donate to an earnest n00b? :(

you don't live where I do, so cut the crap! It's not even possible for me to buy something on e-bay...
sure, easy for you to shirk physical activity when you have none to do... summer before this (when I was only 16) I worked on construction yard, it was about 35-40 Celsius outside... and been saving the money for the little trip to france till this day, so I got none to waist on every kind of equipment... 50 dollars may seam like nothing to you, but here I eat in school a month for that amount of money... how's that sound to you???

you're just another american who thinks the whole world lives as perfect as he does...

You just set a record for reflexive anti-Americanism there, Skanderbeg. Relax though, far be it from me to compare my luxurious life in a one-room inner-city hovel, with no friends, job, prospects, money or sex life to your no doubt much harder life eating radishes and sitting around the e-samovar. Heaven forbid. I would never ever suggest that you're just another malnourished underpaid bigmouth Nouveau-Européen who gets off on slagging even well-meaning Americans who certainly wouldn't dare speak for people in awful backwaters like Croatia anyway.

I spend about $70/month on food, by the way. So you're about $20 better than me! Congratulations et bonne chance.

Whoa ! Hold your horses dude, he didn't called you name or something. He doesn't know your situation nor he does to. So explain him in moderate terms your situation.

Well, he was too hot on the trigger, but of course I "feel" him, as we say. How many guys would get in if they had better resources for their training? On the other hand, I have no doubt a hardscrabble young Croat who obviously takes this quite seriously will make it. So in a way I have it worse — it's much harder to correct a lifetime of sloth than to just save a few hundred euros for a Europass over to Marseille. But that is a relativism in which few people armed with the rhetoric of the "wretched of the earth" are willing to share.

well I'm sorry about that, it seams you don't live so perfect as well... you just sounded to me like another guy who thinks he can buy everything with his dollars/euros/kunas... the valuate doesn't matter... long live e-bay, eh

no anti-americanism here, don't worry, I'd rather live there than here, believe me...

and as for saving those euros for the trip, I could've easily stolen the money, but it just wouldn't be the same... sloth is our greatest enemy xD

Well all right, glad we put that to rest. But believe me, you would not rather live here. This nation is a sinking ship, and because it weighs more it will sink faster than any other. Whatever impels you to leave Croatia for France is the same as what impels me to leave America.

I probably would've stolen the money.

if I stoled the money, then I wouldn't no anything about hard work, and what the hack do I got to do in legion than???? let's stop with off topic talk or another good thread will be closed :)
