The blue sash
Originaly worn under the clothes as a protection against intestinal disorders, it is now part of the parade uniform.

So Fish.... when you gonna go earn your blue "sash" (it does have another name, but I guess you would not know it... yet...) And the good thing is... they let the cooks wear it too! If you ask the lads really nice, they may hang you using one instead of a rope. Ask, I am sure they will try to please you.... you have to promise not to die too quickly... kinda spoils the fun...

interesting...
We still had to wear a khaki colored flanel sash at night, that was at least during basic training. I do not remember when it that rule was not obligatory anymore.
