John Wayne has to be one of my favorite actors...The shootist was one of the best. He was actually sick in that movie. He also made countless war movies.

Quote by Wayne: "I've always had deep faith that there is a Supreme Being, there has to be. To me that's just a normal thing to have that kind of faith. The fact that He's let me stick around a little longer, or She's let me stick around a little longer, certainly goes great with me--and I want to hang around as long as I'm healthy and not in anybody's way."

I think you have the wrong forum, this is for ex Legion types who quite enjoy the slaying of anyone, indigeonous or otherwise.

I'm sure there is a pink tutu, tree hugging, love peace, ban the bomb, kiss Allah and the Pope's arse dancing through the daisys forum somewhere on the internet, but this ain't it. I like John Wayne and I think it's a good thing that he irradicated all those pesky red skins and made the USA the wonderful nation that it is. I for one support George W. and all of his job creation initiatives. Next stop Iran!!!!!!!!

Everbody has a right to voice their opinion, politics, religious or otherwise and my spokesman Mr. AK47 reserves the right to respond to any opinion that we don't agree with

Especially when it's being asked bloody stupid questions, nothing that a Colt 45 can't sort out, why waste ammunition. Remember the Cowboys and this little guy has a stutter and the Duke asks what did you call me.
I called you a ssssson of a bbitch.
A what? A sson of a bitch
Huh a SON OF A BITCH.
Well son if I hear you stutter again I tann you arse.
Get the picture????????????

And gentelmen, can we at least try to solve any disputes through dialogue and not at the point of a weapon. AKs and 45s smack of the schoolyard bully and that old favourite, much favoured by GB, gunboat diplomacy.

And your point is? We are talking about a movie and an actor here..not politics....mmmm.. wonder how many aliens Arnold killed...I have always had an open mind about the quality of gray matter that soldiers possess, or are thought of to possess. After all, some people of their ilk like Churchill, Bonaparte, Che Guevarra have showed some above average intelligence (not the oxymoronic "military intelligence"!). It is my belief that even the automaton and grunt, when inspired, is able to think critically and I mean real critically. This posits that things as presented should not be automatically considered and accepted as facts.

Apropos this thread, the reason why I injected the subject of the annihilation of the original inhabitants of America to a discussion directed towards the idolization of an actor in the past is to see whether soldiers in this forum, whether real or imagining, can exercise their brains.

Yet it would seem that Mise excepting, my belief that soldiers do think may have been wrong. If this is any indication of the way this constellation of people think  , then I am really very afraid of what the future holds considering the continuing militarization of every country in the world and the weapons stockpiling.

Those are some awful big eating spuds of words. Soldiers do indeed think it's a big part of their life and a very important part too at certain times, because if you get your analysis wrong you die. Anyone who has spent much time in the military has been made to live their lives, by enlarge, forbidden to use rational thinking, unless it suited the superior to adminish you for not thinking. I rember once a storeman saying to an officer doing a stock take that he thought the officer took a certain item from stores and he was told 'your not paid to think'. But then again, this was supposed to be a light hearted thread and John Wane never shot as many indians as I did when I was a wane.

Enough of your insults to the Anciens... I'm rather tired of it! If you want to talk politics go to another thread, or make one up about how you can insult these guys. Let's see how long you last. Enough ok?

On to John Wayne...the sons of Katie Elder..1965. This one had Dean Martin in it also.

You get a hard on seeing if we have anything between our ears? Sorry madam but do you not feel you may be better rewarded by posting on the "We are smart ass willy suckers" forum? As it goes I am very worried about the future as well, I worry how many planes will hit how many buildings, I worry if more bombs will go off in yet more stations killing yet more innocents... I worry too but I tend not to worry when I am staring down a weapons sight at some Haji with an AK... Do I think? Yes, I ask myself how the wind will affect my shot, how the sun refraction on my sights will need to be compensated, I think a lot about my retreat after I have dispatched the poor misguided moron to the promised land. Do soldiers think? Yuppers! We think a lot.

Moronic intelligence? Funny that, I think that the armchair warriors of this this planet are the true morons, they sit and discuss and basically do nothing other than criticize...

Now, be a good chappy and wind ya neck in. If you think you can come here and cast doubts on the level of a soldiers intelligence and imagine we even care... I suggest you are greatly mistaken!

IFUGAO: please give it a break, will you ? I'm not discussing the facts here, but simply mentioning your post is completely misplaced. This forum is called "Movie reviews" and the thread is about John Wayne as an actor, not about the extermination of native Americans. But if you wish I'm sure there are plenty of others places on the Internet where you can discuss this issue.
First and last warning. Thank your for your comprehension.

Ok, fine, whatever. I may not agree with your lines of reasoning but I shall hold my peace. But please don't say that scholars like me do not have any use in this wide world of ours. Everybody's just a cog, an ant in this world. We all make it turn around. What use there be of a soldier were there no rebel or terrorist or vice-versa?

And Joette, I'm not, as you called, an "Analysist" (sic). I'm a political scientist and soon to be lawyer.

You are a wannabe lawyer, a wannabe scholar, and a wannabe political scientist... You are in fact none of the above as your inability to string a sentence together proves, in fact I hazard you chose this forum because you felt our level of intelligence to be lower than yours. What happened honey? Did the big bad men on those university forums spank your botty?

Someone pass me my AK... I need to send another waste of rations to meet its maker! Stop breathing my air! Stop wasting real men's rations and please convince me that the other five million sperm were otherwise occupied because I really do not understand how YOU were the fastest swimmer...

Now crawl back under your rock before someone steps on you...

Come, Beau-Sheep, come. Come to the northern boondocks of the Philippines and let's play games. Let's see whose head shall lie on a platter first. Use your AK and I'll use my jungle bolo. It shall suffice to carry out the intent of mine. But do leave your thick hide wherever you may be. We shall not have any use for it.
Let's hear you bleat. :D

Despair not, my dear. My Legion dreams be waning. I'd rather go to one of Paris's top Ecoles. Then what are you doing here? If you come only to play and ridicule? Then you should go somewhere else perhaps... You are young and do not know about life, you show no respect! Instead of burying your nose in books you should think about getting out more... and learning a little about real life.

Ok... Ok... [Only registered and activated users can see links] Time's up. God can testify that I tried to 'defuse' this thread peacefully and with gentle manners, but it was apparently hopeless. I will not pull out any AK, Colt .45 or any other lethal weapon, just the magic key to shut down this thread...

P.S : Mr Marion Michael Morrison (aka John Wayne) was a great actor IMHO. But some people don't like him, which is their perfect right... Why kick up a fuss about it ? [Only registered and activated users can see links]
