The Flying Dueces-Laurel and Hardy.
If you look past the risible slapstick of the inimatable vintage duo you will find that it is filmed against a backdrop of real Legionnaires in Sidi bel Abbes, the background music is accurate. And where the filming takes place on a set the props and uniforms are also very accurate. Excellent for 1934. Puts Van Dammes "Legionnaire" to shame.
We Were Soldiers is an excellent film when chronicling the involvement of Hal Moore in forming the Air Cav and their action at La Drang, and supposedly very accurate although I can't see why the opening sequence has guys in white kepis working with guys in red berets whos cap badges indicate infantry. Still call me Mr. Picky Picky!!
