All my best to you in your efforts Andy. A shame to hear, but an inspiration also. If you can do a mile a day, in your condition, I can do one mile more in my condition today too.

Feel better mate.

I had a mate that lost a few days through an accident, He told me one thing that helped him think is to do puzzles in the newspaper. Apparently thinking about something else helped his memories 'click' back into place. You could try.
As for your fitness, you sound like you are doing fine. Baby steps is the way ahead

Good luck Andy, I am sure you will be your old self in no time at all.
Something that helped me when training to prevent soreness in muscles and bones (had a nasty case of shin splints) was applying gel made for horses to prevent muscle soreness, sensitve joints and tendons. It might sound strange but it really does work like a bomb. My aunt who has cancer (fighting it for 10 years now) doctor recomended her to use it before and after training and she told me.
You can get it at any vet....

Sorry to hear what happened to you Andy, I had a similar thing happen.. diabetic coma.. heart almost stopped. Could barely stand up let alone walk after I got out of hospital & my memory was a little hazy. But with slow steps and mates to support you it will steadily improve. Happy to share any and all that I know about diabetes if it helps. All the best once again.

Hi Andy. Sorry to hear about this...

On top of the other crap I do with IT, I also have a company that makes electronic interfaces that interactively link up exercise equipment to video games and learning media. Typical examples of this are for use by "fat kids" in schools who always want to be excused PE. Instead of eating a bag of crisps in a class waiting for PE to finish, they now play games - by peddling their way around. The faster you peddle, the faster you go.

The kit is also used by young kids with cancer in Children's Hospitals for example right the way up to old age pensioners with mild Alzheimer Disease in nursing homes who need daily exercise.

The problem with getting fit using exercise machines is that it is BORING staring at a beige wall. What my equipment does it take the focus of attention away from the physical effort involved, and places it on something enjoyable. 10 minutes of agony very quickly turns into 40 minutes of fun - and muscles start to build very quickly again. It is also installed in NHS physiotherapy units in England for long term patients.

The kit fits very simply onto any treadmill, stepper, bike or rower and can be used with thousands of different games (including internet based games). We also have a large library of educational content too where you have to peddle around to get the right answer to questions.

I'd be happy to send a kit up to you if you think this may help? If you force me I'll even make you a legionnaire game where you can chase fcuked up wanabees on Cervens and shoot them !

My sister's an occupational therapist and coming down Saturday. It's to do with helping folks recover their motor skills and other daily life. I don't know if it will help but I'll ask her to give some advice on it tommorrow.

I think you are on to something here.. :)

You can have the turkeys cry "This is Sparta!" and other stupid rambo-esque phrases when you score a chest shot, beautiful silence for head shots. (or perhaps a perma-ban stamp?) Regular chatter dialogue could include "Will you look at my tattoo?" "How soon can I send money home?" "I've got this funny scar.." "Do you need two legs to join?" "I can do 100 press-ups. Do you think I'll make it?" "I've got a new question, what about missing a tooth?" and of course the all-star "I have a third testicle!".. :D

Potential problem: you personally may have a hard time trying to stop playing it.

Well if this is anything to go by, its just proof of the bond Legionnaires share with each other...support during and after service, fantastic stuff.

P.S if you need a hand with the graphics for the game give me a shout lol

This is a GOOD idea for a game Grimm. I have a nice Viking quest game that could easily be adapted. Just need to swap the warriors you talk to for wanabees and the Viking huts to a Caserne.

Def need to have Sean and Flash and co walking around slapping EVs just for fun Hahahahaha - and a Magic Broomstick for the really bad boys....

Andy you'll get there trust me, I spent a while in hospital had my first rib removed under the shoulder blade,
I was on Morphine for a year and could not even change a fecking light bulb.

I went up to 120 kilos a few years back and I'm now 86kg a few weeks back 90kg...

Each step is a step further !!!!!

If any body would of said 10 years after the Legion I'd run 3000 meters in 12 mins
instead of my 2800 meters whilst in the legion, I would of said bollocks...

Yep use memory games and good luck.

Hi Andy, Best to you from a US vet here. I had a stress fracture in my left femoral neck. Hope some of this helps: stretch, walk some, stretch, walk. I take Glucosamine Condroitant MSM. If it's cold, I'll walk wearing short wool socks outside of cotton ath. socks (seriously). I write things in my notepad, wrote an 850p novel, and scratch down as many battle poems as anyone around me can stand. No telling what the future can bring, plus age limits can change - I'm 45. I've been shattered 2. It's atomic at the time, but there's no lingering fallout because it's temporary...beginning, middle, end...you're in the second part already. I mean, if things got tough awful quick, then "to every action there's an equal but opposite reaction" - my father - 2nd law of thermo. Things can catapult forward awful quick for the good as well, bro. Sry to run on so. About to walk myself.

Really sorry you've been in the wars Andy, from what I've read your back on the road of recovery...keep up the hard work...it'll be well worth it x

I fell in work and fractured my elbow and wrist last Oct.....couldn't have a plaster on because of my wrist fracture etc etc...so in the end, I had a complete useless wrist sling on to aid my recovery...

My first AND last visit to the physiotherapist was...interesting.....I walked into the room....a young slip of a thing aged about 19yrs, introduced herself as Clare, she was blonde, skinny and looked totally harmless....mistake No.1...

She asked questions on the injuries..etc ....etc....she then removed my sling(mistake No.2), felt around my elbow and wrist then suddenly managed to put my arm in a position it's never EVER been in before!!(her 3rd and finale mistake!!)...it was at this point that I told her to back off...I also said some other stuff...but lets not go there.....I then asked if she'd ever thought of a change of name to Helga? she looked baffled until I added as in "Helga's house of pain" it was also at this point that I was liking the idea of stringing her up with my useless bloody wrist sling!!..let's just say......we didn't part on good terms lol ;)

Hope your recovery is fast and you don't bump into any Helga's!!

Bags x
