I am forced to leave, not due to anything more than I got me a job and I'm doing double shifts to get the coin up to go back to France.

So I will try in the short time I got to empty my brain.

Glasses:
Not to hopefull for you if you wear them. Worse if you do make selection and need them. Issue glasses are a weird funkie looking thing that is closer to swimming goggles than eye wear. Only saw one person make Rouge in my time there that had glasses.

Age:
Dont seem to be an issue. 40 year old just made Rouge when I was sent civil.

Married:
Again not an issue same with having kids.
Many were married, many went to Castel. Many Legionares are married and have kids.

Gestapo:
There real symple. Keep your eyes/ears open and dont voulintere any info. You should do OK.
Me...well I got a record almost as big as my arm. Enuf I wont ever try to get into America ever again.
I told the caporal-chef my criminal history. He listened, and wrote NO on my application under criminal record. At that point if ever asked about my record???? guess what??? I said no! Hey the Gestapo is real busy, don't give them any reason to work harder. The easier you make their life..the easier yours is.
Also once you have made Vert (green), when the interviews happen you have pretty much covered all the "bad" stuff that gets you sent civil, very few greens get sent civil. Again that is in ratio to blues.

Positions:
F-all is allowed. I didn't even see any French-LA dictionaries. Maybe we all forgot them (like I did) or they arnt alowed. Books with contacts????Alowed???Huh??? Dont count on that one, just like picts from home. And I must ask what do you plan to do with a contact book??? Just take it for granted ... geting to a phone in Abune is an imposability.

Fort de Nogent:
Foyer every day, sometimes 3-4 times a day. Don't buy jack all (well maybe a ping pong ball). You will have opportunities to buy if make Regement. Save Euros for Aubagne. Beer...hell it's 0.80 Euro and you will receive no negs for drinking it. Just use sence, no 12 beer in the 30-40mins there.

Aubagne:
Foyer is only open Monday to Thursday. Smokes cost 5 Euro so does body soap. First day there you will receive 28Euros...Next payday????? No clue!!!!
Buy body soap. Soap they give you is only good for washing cloths, and you cant buy it in the Foyer. Toilet paper is a form of God. Since it apparently is standard not to bo issued any. Do Corvées. Steal any/all forms of paper that "might" work. Saw some guys that were so dumb they went a week with out toilet. Toilets (unless you do corvée) don't have any seats. Period. Get used to not sitting when shitting. If you do corvée, you might run into a toilet with a seat (and paper) enjoy the seat...steal the paper.
If you don't smoke (a good thing) get an empty pack of smokes. You are given nothing but the pocket of the blue tunic to keep your possesion in. At least a smoke pack will keep your Euro coins & toilet paper. Also handy to keep paper dry in the rain (notice even now I keep the toilet paper thing as an issue???hum).

Cuisine (kitchen) corvée isn't that bad. Actualy all corvée isn't that bad. In the morning you will be asked to volunteer for corvée. You might as well. Hell anything is better than sitting under that tarp all fn day!!! And corvée lets you see more/do more. Plus there is almost always a caporal-chef willing to get you some smokes, beer, chocolate, pop. Except Sat/Sun when the real Foyer is closed. At that point....heheh I aint gonna tell you were to get smoke...hehehe

Pay for going civil is payed cash, with no receipt. Ticket is a 1st class back to were you enlisted. Cost 11Euro to update it, don't forget to punch it out at a yellow machine. Pay is 28 Euro Mon-Friday, 35 Euro Sat/sun.

There is too much to right, and I know I haven't even scratched the surface...but work calls and I need the coin.

Bonne Chance to all !!!
